Need Advice on a TMI Question - Gas During Massage

Okay so I'm not sure what to do in this situation. I love getting massages at this local place, but my problem is that I usually develop gas that I have to "hold" which makes me tense and then the point of the massage is ruined. I've tried Gas-X which does nothing. Has anyone tried Beano? Does it work? Anyone out there passed gas during a massage?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

LOL!!! Thanks Julie and Molly. My husband also gives amazing massages, but I like to give him a break every now and then :) I do watch my diet before the massage, but it doesn't seem to help. Oh well.

Could you monitor what you ate before you got one? I do that. I usually eat a VERY high fiber diet, but I love massages and pedicures, so when I'm going to get one, I lay off the Kashi, beans -all of that stuff.

Sadly I have passed gas during massages I used to have to get them a couple times a week after an accident (they were not pleasant) and one time it was even "ahem" stinky :( lol but I survived and so did she (amazingly) and I have moved on...

It is actually pretty normal, however you should try to pass a BM before the massage and if you have time lay flat on your back with your legs in the air at a 90degree angle to the wall and slowly alternate them dropping to your chin/chest and see what you can get out first! Honestly, it is normal and Beano helped my sister with her gassy issues so it's worth a try.

isn't that just the worst? i have the same thing plague me during yoga!
beano does help with some things. others it doesn't seem to touch.
all i know to do is to be careful what you eat for a few hours and go for a good bm beforehand.

I'm a massage therapist. Getting gas during massage is totally normal and is an indication that you are getting a good massage! fart. Just do it. Try not to do it if they are working on your glutes ;) -
If it puts you at ease - announce it.
Seriously.
Do not hold it in or be embarrassed about this.
