Need a Recommendation for the Perfect Baby Carrier

This is my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy was twins, so I couldn't use a baby carrier. My plan is to keep my twins in the stroller, and carry the newborn (due in May) in a snuggly baby carrier. I heard about ergo baby, but can anyone else recommend something they've had great luck with? I wouldn't mind starting out with a baby sling.

What can I do next?

I was looking for a carrier in which I could nurse my child. A LLL volunteer recommended the Moby wrap. After looking it up online, I decided to make one myself (really simple). My 5 month old sits comfortably in it and it holds him snuggly against me. I was turned off at first by how it looked in the pictures compared to the various slings (which I never found comfortable), etc. - but I actually like the way it looks and feels against my body. I think it would be easier to nurse a younger baby while wearing it - being petite, I can't quite figure how to nurse a 5 month discreetly while wearing it, but according to the online tutorials, it is possible.

I loved my Ergo carrier - it's great because you can use it 3 ways; front, back, and hip. I started using it when my son was 4 months old - we were living temporarily in NYC and I saw someone on the subway using it with her toddler. They both looked very comfortable, and if you can imagine traveling on the subway in NYC comfortably with a toddler, that says a LOT. I bought it right away and it was great. I was able to WALK down the street in NYC nursing my son in the carrier - it has a head supporting covering. When he was older, I was able to switch it to the "piggy" back and we were both comfy that way, too. I had to move out of a small apartment during a transition and he fell asleep on my back while I was putting things in the truck!

The Ergo has chest and hip support so the weight is spread out on your body, and it wears kinda like a backpack strap-wise. I really loved it.

I think you need to experiment with baby wearing. Also, one might be great for you while they're infants, and then another would work better later on. It just depends on the baby.

Slings are great. I had a Maya wrap and a ringless one. I loved both once I figured out how to best use them. I think an ergo would be good when the baby is older, but I could be wrong there. I just never used one. I think a really good one to check out might be a Lucky Sling. There's not all the adjusting (which is a good thing once you get the hang of it btw). http://www.lucky-baby.com/p_home.asp I had a baby bjorn and hated it. It just didn't work for us. My son's legs were too chunky and I found the whole thing to be just not right for me.

Congratulations on the new baby. I hoep you find a sling or whatever you like.

I loved my sling when the baby was little, when she got past six months it became more uncomfortable and she resisted using it. I had a baby bjorn...which I thought was great until I saw my SIL using her Baby ergo. I was sooo jealous. That thing is awesome. Comfortable for mommy and her baby seemed perfectly content. She is a big girl at 11 months, but there was no strain on anyone. I think we are done having babies, but if not next time I will invest in the baby ergo. :)

We have a Moby Wrap which we've used for two babies. It's great! Inexpensive, compared to other wraps I've seen (we got ours for $35 at MobyWrap.com); big enough that my husband can also comfortably wear it. There are different ways to wrap it for different ages & stages; after a couple fo practices, it's easy to put it on & put the baby in.

I've not used any other type of wrap so my experience is very limited, but the Moby Wrap has been awesome for us.
