Whatever you do, don't go to one that only does adjustments. I went to one like that for years. When I'd go in, he'd have me stand on a scale that measured "balance of my body." Then he'd used a vibrator like thing or roller over my back. Then he'd do a couple of adjustments. He'd always tell me I needed to get a massage because it was hard to adjust me. Then I discovered another chiropractor that does body work beforehand. With this doctor's office you go in, they do heat packs, then you get body work from one of his therapists (for about 15-20 minutes), with focus on the area you need work on. Only then does the doctor adjust you. My son went to them with he was diagnosed with "overwork" syndrome of his knee, and after the pediatrician thought he'd need surgery on his knee the chiro guys did a bunch of deep tissue work on his thigh muscles and hamstrings (every day for 5 days) and he was completely better. I sent my husband to this office when the other chiro wasn't available (the one that didn't do tissue work), and it turned out he hadn't thrown out his back (like he was always led to believe), but his hamstrings were tight and knotted and accordingly were pulling at his lower back. After two visits for deep tissue work, he was perfectly fine (where in the past it would be weeks of 3-times a week visits). So before you go anywhere, ask what they do when you go in and chose carefully.
