Need a Neurologist for Migraines Caused by Hormonal Changes

I started having migraines when I was 38. They start about 2 days after my period and last 5-6 days. They have grown steadily worse. I've been going to a Neurologist in Plano but think its time to try another one.

Can anyone recommend a Neurologist in the McKinney/Plano/Frisco/Allen area?

I'd consider going further if you think the doctor is wonderful.

Have you considered other options such as chiropractic and nutritional care? I specialize in a technique of chiropractic that's not only gentle but extremely specific. I also do nutritional counseling. I feel that migraines are like an onion. They have many different causes, both environmental and physical and looking at every aspect provides relief and a stop to the migraines without dangerous drugs.
Here is a link to a patient-run website that will give you more information on specific upper cervical care. www.upcspine.com. Also, here's a link to watch excerpts from a DVD called "The Power of Upper Cervical" http://thepowerofuppercervical.com/. Very few chiropractors in the DFW area are specialized in this technique as it requires extra training post graduation to become proficient.
I'm in Plano and if you think it would be worth $45 (normally $265, but a discount for mamapedia members) for your intial consult, exam and necessary films, I would be glad to see if I can help you. If you're not a chiropractic candidate then I will refer you to a neurologist or other practitioner that can. My office name is HealthWorks and if you do decide, then call Shari, my assistant at ###-###-#### to make your appointment. I truly hope you decide to look at an alternative as drugs (and sometimes invasive sugeries) are usually the only option in the medical field. God Bless.

I have gotten some relief from Dr. Chalmers at Chalmers Wellness. He detected my hormones being an issue and has helped me with so many things linked to that by using an AK testing and nutritional supplements. I can not say enough great things about this place and how much they have helped me get my life back again. My hormones give me headaches/migraines and anxiety and Matt Chalmers has been HUGE in being able to help me. My OB's couldn't and I did not think to do the neurology route so.....it may be or may not be for you but it has been life changing for me.

I see Anna Parton at Texas Neurology. I have suffered from migraines since childhood. I also see a chiropractor which seems to help as well. Good Luck.

We are going this Friday to see him for other issues, but we were referred to him by a couple who both suffered from migraines and he has been fabulous. I have enjoyed him because he listens to everything that is said, and isn't judgmental as doctors can sometimes be. Also, he is fairly young and very up to date on the latest information.

On another note, I too have the same kind of migraines. Until I can get them under control, I take the pill continuously for 3 months and then have 1 period. That way I have the migraines much less. That's helped ease my life in dealing with the headaches less often.

Good luck.
