Does anyone know where I can buy fabulous corn tortillas in Austin? Preferably homemade. Maybe a restaurant who makes their own and I can buy them buy the dozen? I'm not looking for a good corn tortilla (like what I can get at HEB), I'm looking for something excellent. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

El Milagro on East 6th & San Marcos St. San Marcos St is a little street right past IH35 on the east side if the highway. They have great tortillas both flour & corn & great tortilla chips.

I love Amaya's Taco Village's corn tortillas. I'll take their corn over flour any day when it comes to their corn tortillas. They are located on the access road of IH35, just south of the hwy 290 (west side of the 35).

Good luck!

HEB on Hancock make their corn tortillas fresh.. So does Fiesta, across the highway from HEB.

What are you going to use them for.

The deal with corn tortillas is when they are super fresh, they do not work great to make enchiladas, you almost want day old or older tortillas.. Also sometimes it will take 2 at a time to hold fajitas or taco meat because they are so fresh and soft..

Now the absolute very best fresh made corn tortillas in Austin are at "Fonda San Miguel Restaurant" on North Loop, in Central Austin. There are 2 ladies that make them totally by hand right there for you.. OMG.. they are just like my grandmothers homemade corn tortillas..

Here is their website. http://www.fondasanmiguel.com/
