Need a Good "High Risk" OBGYN

Hi! I recently found out I was pregnant, and due to multiple "complications" I'm now considered high risk. The baby has a heartbeat but seems to be struggling. Anyway, my current doctor is going to work for John Hopkins U, and I switched to another doc at the clinic but she rarely returns calls in a timely manner and I don't think she is giving me near the attention that I need...I mean, I'm high risk and she gives me a prescription and says "see ya in a couple weeks"!!! I'm very concerned, as I have a hemorhage behind the placenta which causes bleeding and I really need a good doc - any suggestions?

I delivered 2 babies with Womens Health Consultants and that group is so wonderful. Both of my pregnancies had a few bumps and with my daughter there were some concerns. All the doctors there were calm, clear, compassionate, and directed me to the appropriate people when the need arose. I highly recommend their group...they value women and families.

Hi J.,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, hopefully everything will turn out just fine. My doctor is wonderful, highly respected and has an excellent reputation, record and years of experience. His name is Dr. Ulland and he is at Stillwater Medical Group. The phone number is ###-###-####. It is a 40 minute hike for me, but I would never change. I feel like I am in great hands and he has always returned phone calls right away- nights and weekends included. Also, I delivered my first baby in Stillwater and I had the best experience as well, it was great. Good luck! R.

J., I am not sure where you live, but Minnesota Perinatal Physicians out of Abbott Hospital in Mpls are wonderful. I had 6 high risk pregnancies and went there for the last 2. They were terrific, I highly recommend them. You do need a referral from your regular ob, though. Good luck. I hope all turns out well for you and your baby.

I saw Dr Preston Williams at Riverside Profesional building, ###-###-####. He is very good and does alot with high risk pregnancys. I have Cystic Fibrosis and he saw me regularly, at least once a month, and then at about week 26 or so i started seein him every week. I ended up delievering at 33wks and my daughter is doin just perfect. The team up there is really great, very friendly and easy going. If you leave a message for his nurse she usually gets back to you the same day.

Hope all goes well with the baby. congrats and good luck.

I was high risk as well. My doc was Dr. Peterson at Haugen & Associates in Edina. Even though I didn't really care for my doc I did get exceptional care for being high risk. They sent me to the perinatal clinic at Abbott (which is for high risk patients) and took every concern very seriously. I was in the clinic every week until it seemed I was out of the danger zone (24 weeks for me). I was referred to this doc but have seen others there, including the RN, Peggy Joy I think her name is, who I loved. The issue I had with my doc wasn't so much his skill (he was very knowledgeable) but we just didn't hit it off. My daughter was born last May and is healthy and happy. The number is ###-###-####. I hope this helps!

Good luck,
C.

The Minnesota Perinanal Physicians at Abbott Northwestern (they also have an Edina office) are fabulous. I used to work with them, but I know people who went to them as patients.
The doctors are renowned and come very highly recommended.

I never had a pregnancy with any complications, but I delivered two babies with Women's Health Consultants in Minneapolis. They have two locations in Mpls, and many doctors in the group. They do nothing but OBGYN and are extremely skilled. I highly recommed them. They only deliver at Abbott, however, if that might be an issue for you. Good luck!

If you are in St. Paul the doctor who delivered my daughter was great. Her name is Jacalyn DiCello, right across from United Hospital.
