Need a Good Bra Recommendation

Hi All, I'm having the hardest time finding a good bra that fits - looking for a 34DDD (36 of any cup size is too big around the band) because I'm starting to get marks from my 34DD. Can't seem to find anything that really fits and supports well. I've tried a couple different styles (minimizers included) and really do not like the scratchy fabric from Playtex. Can't seem to find any 34DDD in the stores so I can try something on first and make sure I like it. Any suggestions would be helpful - this is getting pretty frustrating.

What can I do next?

Don't know if anybody suggested this, but Victoria's Secret bras are wonderful. I live by them and have thrown away all my other bras since my mother bought me these bras for my birthday in September. (Yes, I said my mother)

If you're located in NJ, the Dain Shop in Morristown is excellent at fitting and recommending bras. I went after I weaned my first daughter and it was very helpful. They also don't push you to buy the most expensive bras in the store even though it's a very small shop.

Orchard Corset on the Lower East Side. They specialize in bras and will do a custom bra fitting and provide various bras which you can try on. It is a family run business. They are very helpful and the bras are reasonably priced. It isn't a fancy lingerie shop, but the owners know their stuff!

Hi J.. I have the same problem-one size too small the next too big. Most department stores sell packages of bra extenders. 2 hook,3 hook and maybe 4 hook, in black white and beige.I found them very helpful and inexpensive.Congrats to you and your husband.

Hi J.,

Is there a specialty shop by you that sells bras? If so I would go there and they would be able to fit you with one that is comfortable but you still get the support you need.

hi, i have had a problem finding bras in my size (now a 40J) over the past 15 yrs or so...from my experience, the Goddess bra is pretty comfortable up to G cup (that's when i had to start putting a stitch in the straps to prevent them from loosening w/in an hr of putting it on) and now i use the Glamorise brand and they're rather comfortable especially the one that comes in the front hook with the back 'support'. http://www.jms.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce/ProductDisplay?prnbr...
i bought mine from this site. there's also bare necessities stores that you can go to that sell these bras...here's the link for their website.
http://www.barenecessities.com/default.asp?cm_mmc=GLSR-_-...
also, if you're anywhere near menlo/woodbridge malls i would suggest going into Lingerie by Susan...they sell the Goddess bras there, and can help with picking out the right bra for you, they have (from what i can remember) a few different brands in that size. Well, good luck, i know how hard it is to find the right bra, and how you just want to break down and cry when you can't find anything that fits right AND is comfortable to wear throughout the day. I hope you're able to find something good.

have you tried motherhood? their bras are extremely expensive but they have all kinds of sizes and they can measure you-without the looks at victorias secret-and help you find a bra thats the right fit. you can also try a champion sports bra-i LIVED in them for my whole pregnancy their soft and confy and no underwire to dig in to your ribs after an unplanned nap. they also make some (or they did) that zip up in the front so its easier to get on. sports bras arent sexy but goodness are they confy.

i hope this helps-and if nothing better you might have even gotten a laugh,

Hi!

I'm a 36DDD so I know what you mean!

I go to Bare Necessities. I don't know where you live, but I'm in Monmouth County, NJ, and there is one in Old Bridge. They measure you and make sure that the bra fits. They can even special order. I highly recommend them!

You might try a Medela nursing bra - they can be bought at any local hospital that has a comprehensive women's center with lactation consultants that sell related products (like breast pumps, etc.) They will measure you and help you decide whether you'll need larger one(s) for when you are nursing. The best feature of the Medela bras is that they don't have any stretch in the straps so the support is excellent. I found this was the best solution with my first baby and have been wearing them now as I await my second in April. Good luck!

The problem is go up a letter size will only make the bra fit worse. The number is the around size. if it's too big, then I suggest finding a bra extender. It's just a strip with hooks on one side and loops on the other.. you can increase it a half size that way and use your current bras without adding new back issues or something.

Good luck!

Hello J.,
You can go to JC Penny and Victoria Secrets to be measured correctly. JC Penny even carries or can order your size and I am told they have nice ones too.

I love Cacique by Lane Bryant. They are a bit pricy, but they usually have sales throughout the year like BOGO free or BOGO half off. Also, if you are really savvy, just buy one, and they often give out huge coupons good the next week or two. This will give you a chance to try it and see if you like it, AND get a great deal. They also offer bra fittings, so you may wanna get one just to make sure you are wearing the right size- you would be surprised!!! Good luck and God bless you and yours!

You might need to try a completely different style and I would try out Motherhood Maternity, especially if you are considering nursing. Make sure you get measured too, as things change. I'm on my third pregnancy and just bought different bras again last night. The shape and size (of my breast) seem to change slightly with each pregnancy and so a differently style bra is working out better for me.

Birthandbaby.com has a great selection of nursing bras in larger sizes. They also have $1 shipping and are great with exchanges until you get the right size. After (or if you are not nursing) Lunaire makes great and affordable bras ($32-$38) that are super comfortable and look great (no granny issues). Freshpair and brasmyth carry that line. Good luck!

Not sure where you live, but many local hospitals have a breast care center in them (usually for cancer recovery products), but most of them carry EXCELLENT top notch bras, for ALL sizes. I had the same problem you are having and that's where I turned. The problem will get even more dramatic once you give birth and the milk comes in. The hospitals sell nursing bras as well. I highly recommend MEDELA brand. You can also go online. The benefit of going someplace though is that they can ensure you are getting a PERFECT FIT. Call the hospitals around you to find out. If you live in Rochester, check out Highland Hospital.

See if you can find a Jeunique (not sure if I spelled it right but it's close) bra fitter nearby. They are excellent bras and they come in a billion sizes. You will be fitted to find the perfect one and they last for years. Very good for the lymph flow and for getting rid of lumpy breasts. I love mine.

Where do you live? If you are in CT, you could try Bare Necessities in Norwalk. Otherwise, maybe there is an intimate retailer in your area.

I found Motherhood stores/Maternity stores helpful in this area. The prices are reasonable too. Don't expect anythng really sexy though. Lane Bryant is great (and you can get awesome deals *9.99and up),but i can't promise they'd be as comfortable during late pregnancy or after delivery when you swell up. I wear them nomally and think they fit great , currently I am 5 months prego with my 3rd child and am still in my Lane Bryant bras. Now i know the day is coming when praticality and more comfort is going to rule and that is when I will switch to my maternity bras. Hope this helps, good luck
