Naturopath Good with Children

I am looking for a naturopath with lots of experience and comfort addressing children's health issues. I'm also interesting in hearing if anyone knows of a good M.D./Naturopath, who has experience in both medical worlds. My nine-year-old son has had some stomach problems for about 4 months, which we have not been able to diagnose with our pediatrician.

What can I do next?

Everyone in my little family sees Dr. Susan Allen, ND and she is wonderful with children. She is a family practice naturopath and we all adore her. She is a fantastic balance of preventative and natural health and conventional medicine. I have never been steered wrong by her. She is an exceptional listener and is a wealth of knowledge. Her practice is called Triangolo family clinic and it is located at 26th and NE Glisan. I was referred to her by a co-worker who has been a patient for a very long time and who has a child, now six, that has been treated by her since birth.

Best of luck with getting the answers that you need for your child.

I have taken my boys to a naturopath since my oldest (now 8) was very young, as well as utilizing the medical community - they see a family LPN for yearly check-ups, and for things that would cost too much to go to the naturopath for, as she is out-of-pocket to us - like occasional antibiotics, tests, etc. The naturopath that we have gone to for the last 4 years is Sara Ohgushi, she is located less than 1 block from Laurelhurst Theater in SE Portland, and she is AWESOME. She has a wonderful presence, connects well with children and adults alike; she is married with 2 children of her own, a girl in college, and a boy in high school. She is fluent in Japanese! She is also a midwife; although we did not begin seeing her until after my youngest was born. Sara is great. I appreciate her immensly, and she is not "allergic" to the medical community. She knows we access both worlds for health care, and supports us. Her phone number is: ###-###-####. If you are looking for a naturopath over in the SW PDX/ Beaverton area, I also know a good one over there.

Best Wishes!

Sincerely,

S. M.

I can't recommend Liz Collins ND at Natural Child and Family Clinic enough. She's *wonderful* and often uses homeopathy and herbs for treatments. The clinic offers allergy testing that is non-invasive and has been very helpful for our family. Tummy troubles are often the cause of food sensitivities in kids. Good luck, and feel free to ask questions if you like!

Hi C.,

Our son is 8 also with recurrent stomach issues. My husband happens to be a Naturopathic physician so we have recently used his help to address this issue. In addition to the common food sensitivities that many discuss we took it a step further and tested for parasites etc. These are actually common when eating organic food, which we do. Anyway, so in fact this was an issue and we are currrently using natural protocols for treatment. There are many other issues that can relate such as immune health, pH, etc. Greenspan Good Health is the name of my husband's clinic there are some great doctors there who blend both technical diagnosis with natural treatment plans. ###-###-####. Good luck! K.
