Nanny Christmas Gift

What is the standard Christmas gift/bonus for a nanny these days? I've heard an extra week's pay, plus a Christmas gift from the child they take care of and then also a gift from the family? Is this correct? And if so...how much money should I be spending on these gifts? I am trying to keep in mind that this is the woman is caring for my wonderful son during the day while I'm at work. Any suggestions and/or past experiences would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

I think cash is an excellent idea. I have heard a weeks' pay as well. I mean, she is caring for your most prized possession. But I do like the idea of a gift card that can be used at more than one place, like an Amex Gift card. And a framed picture of your child and her. Something like that.
Really, I am sure she will appreciate whatever you do! Think of how you like to be appreciated and appreciate her the same way...
Hugs,
E.

I dont like Walmart. I love Target!! But I think a week pay and a little gift would be nice. Like Bath & Body or some kind of relaxing gift. A massage, pedicure, or soemthing in that nature. Taking care of kids is very stressful. Just because she does it so well, or does not show how stressed she is, does not mean she is not. It is hard work so somthing to realx her would be great I think!

I am personally doing 1 weeks pay and a small gift - either a bag of Starbuks coffee or some bath and body works lotion and shower gel.

As a former nanny, I always appreciated money. I never got a weeks pay though. I would get between $300-$500. I considered it a gift from the whole family. The kids would make homemade cards, which was sweet. I never expected anything. So it was always nice. If you feel like you need to get something extra, do a gift card. Maybe try a Visa gift card (you can get them at banks for a fee~about $2-3) because then she can use it anywhere and is not limited to a certain store or restaurant.
