It really doesn't matter what YOU select
because wee ones come up w their own things anyway!
but we have Pop-Pop and Grammy and nana and gigi
I've seen someone ask on here before about different names to call grandparents, but I cant locate that request now. If anyone has any other names besides Grandma and Grandpa that would be very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you so much to all that responded to my request! You have given me more options than I could ever imagine! I greatly appreciate it! : )

Hi C.,
Mine go by Nana and Papa (sounds like papaw)
I never liked the typical Grandpa and Grandma either and my Mom thought Grandma made her sound old. She's really happy with Nana.
Take Care!
My daughter calls my inlaws Nana & Pawpaw.
One of my grandmothers is called GiGi and the other is Memaw.
Two of my grandfathers go by Papa.
If you are searching for names for your parents or inlaws, you should ask them...both sets that is and try to pick something different for both sides so there is no child confusion.
If there is no real preference, wait till the child gets old enough to try to say their name and see what becomes of it... one of my grandfathers ended up being called Grumpy because I couldn't say Grandpa.
My in-laws are Lovey and Easy. Lovey is the Grandmother and it fits her to a tee and Easy is the grandfather and well, PERFECT!
Children will select their own names for their grandparents. My mother did not want to be called Granny because she did not like her mother-in-law. You guessed it... the mother-in-law was Granny. My daughter ended up calling my mother Maw...which I thought was awful but it stuck. Granddaddy is what I called my Grandfather and that's what my daughter called my Dad. She tried calling him Daddy but he would not have it! Anyways, a friend of mine has her grandchildren calling her Mame' like yes/no mame'. The term came out one day and stuck. Pop is another term I have heard for Granddaddy's. Maybe there's a website that has a listing of Grandparents names.
Enjoy your day.
My parents are papa and nonna (pop-a and no-na). Nonna is 'grandmother' in italian. My inlaws are grammie and grandpa.
Fun! I let the four of them decide what they wanted.

How about Gaffer and Gammer? I know - where the heck did she come up with THAT!!???
Gaffer was what Sam Gamgee (sp?) in Tolkien's Lord of the Ring series called his father and Gammer would match! I'm hoping my kids will go for the idea of having THEIR kids call us this - they're Tolkien fans, too. Sometimes they think my ideas are too wierd and wonder if I did drugs when I was a teenager (no, I didn't! I'm just a little unique, that's all)
My parents are Nana and Papa (Pop-a, not Pawpaw). I always liked Oma and Opa, which are German for grandma and grandpa, but couldn't sell it on my grandparents since I was in high school by then, and they weren't German. My mother-in-law is Grammy (or I've seen Grammie). We have a great-Granny, and a great-Grandmom. Although when I was little, Grandmom was Mom-Mom and grandpop was Pop-Pop.
my daughter calls her grandparents pops and mimi as well as papa and memaw they were the same way and didnt want to be called grandma and grandpa.
Mimi
Granni
MaMa (maw-maw)
Mema
Grandma
Mumzy
Nana
Pepop (Peepop)
Pa
Grandpa
Pop
Papa
My mom is called "NaNa" and step-dad is granpa and on my ex-husband side my childrens grandpa is "pop-pops".
This was tough on our family, mostly because my mom wanted to be called mimi, that is what my counsins call our grandparents. Anyway our list goes like this.
Great grandparents - Great Grandmother (too formal but she likes it and is in another state), Mimi and Papa (my grandparents are called this, but I call them Mom and Dad - I know weird, but that is just what it always was for me.)
Grandparents - Fraternal - Grandmommy and Granddaddy, it just suits them and it caught on quickly and stuck, Maternal - they wanted mimi and papi, as I said mimi is taken for now, so my mom asked for nani - I hated it but tried. Jake opted for her looking for like a Grandma and she is dealing with it.
You just never know, a grandparent can make a request and you can try and make it happen, but like nani, the grandkid can always come up with someone on their own.
My daughter is two and can't pronounce "Grandpa" and "Grandma." Instead, she says "Umpa" and "Mema" which I think has pretty much stuck. I think they're happy with it, and it's a little different which is nice.
We use "Grammy" and "Daddy _____" like Daddy John or Daddy Bill. Cute!
My mother's father was called Grandad. Her mother, whose parents came to this country from Scotland was called Nanna, which is the way she spelled it. My father's parents were Grandaddy and Grandmother. My nieces called their grandmother Mimima or Minima.
