A friend told me about NAET which is an acupuncture based treatment for allergies. Do any of you have experience w/ this and did it work for your child?
I don't know anything about acupuncture for allergies, but since you are interested in homeopathic remedies and everyone in your house is old enough, a spoon full of locally grown honey daily will help tremendously. It takes a couple of months to work, but no one in my house minds eating it everyday. The most important part though is that it is local. The closer to your home the better.
Good luck with the acupuncture, be sure to let us all know how it works!

I am not firmiliar with NAET but I thought I would share this..... My little brother had every known allergy there was and asthma very badly when we were growing up. He was on beathing machines, shots, medicines, and everything under the sun to help him. My Mom spoke with someone who suggested going to a chiropractor. Sounds odd right? It worked! He was off all breathing treatments and had no severe attacks as long as he went on a regular basis. Your nerves all go through your back so find a good chiropractor in your area and call, ask some questions. It may help you.

I haven't used NAET, but I had a friend who was a practitioner and he was totally into it. I would try it, myself, if I had an allergy problem in my family.

I've known NAET to be wonderfully effective in some cases. It isn't acupuncture. It is acupressure. Some who practice it are also acupuncturists and they may use needles, but I have never heard of any NAET practitioner using needles. Some practitioners are nurses and chiropractors as well, so you might want to shop around. Just as with any health care practice, how well it works always has something to do with the practitioner you choose.
NAET is just one of the approaches to eliminating allergies with acupressure, but it is likely the most available. You can also look into The Legge Method, E.A.T., and even EFT. I provide an acupressure treatment for specific learning disabilities known as Crossinology's Brain Integration Technique. We also have an effective approach to relieving allergies, but this is not our main focus. It is just one part of an overall program to integrate brain function. Our acupressure approach to elliminate allergies, however, has proven to be highly effective in most cases.
In choosing any of these methods, make sure you know in advance what you will be required to do at home. If you invest in NAET, make sure the practitioner is current in their training. The practice has improved significantly over the last few years. Not all practitioners have kept current. It is practiced with more efficiency today than it was 10 years ago.
Best wishes to you and your family.

I am a pediatric chiropractor in Kansas, and I've seen NAET do great things with allergies. I've also seen good results with chiropractic and homeopathy. I encourage you to explore these options.
If you want to find a pediatric chiropractor in your area, go to www.icpa4kids.org and click on "Find a Doctor".
Good luck!
Yours in health,
Dr. Alyssa

Hi Kristen-
I personally am going through the NAET treatments now. Honestly I can't tell a difference. I wasn't severly allergic to anything. I am actually ttc. But the children that get treatd seem to have remarkable results. I always visit with whomever is in the waiting room with me and the moms all have wonderful things to say. The NAET doctor can treat things other then just food allergies. One child had been treated for ADD. Another gentelman went for sleeping troubles. I'm just saying it can work for more then just food allergies. I'm not sure where you live but i can give you the name and number of my doctor if you live near the South County area or if thats not too far of a drive for you. He is loctaed off Telegraph Road.

My son is currently going through the NAET program & it is amazing. Sometimes I start thinking is there really a difference or is it in my head & then we go backwards for a short time & I remember what life was like before he started NAET. It's hard to explain to people when they ask me what it is because if you try to describe the treatment it sounds ridiculous (not a good word to use but you understand) My son has only been having treatments since March (we saw improvements afetr the 3rd visit), but another boy that goes there has been doing it for 1 1/2 years & is almost complete. When he is done she is going to start he 2 yr old whom is allergic to so many basics I don't know how he eats.
Many adults have the NAET treatments because they are tired of going to the allergist which is neverending (my mom went through allergy shots for 8 years & never got any better). With NAET there is an end & with NAET once you "clear" that particular allergen you can be around / eat it again.
The process is you go into the office & they give you a vial in a glass (baby food) jar. They then do a strength test to see how your body is reacting to that vial. If it is affecting you, you will go "weak". After being treated for an allergen you will need to stay COMPLETELY away from that item in any form for 25 hours immediately following treatment. After 25 hours you can go back to life as normal. With you son being so young they would probably treat him through you, using you as a surrogate (sp?). They do the treatments the same way, but they test him through you by having him hold onto you while they are doing the testing and treatment. The 25 hours after the treatment can be rough (crabby, moody, tired etc)but it ususally goes away pretty quick. If you have any more specific questions please feel free to contact me @____@____.com.
