Mystic Tanning

Has anyone out there done the Mystic tanning? I have checked out some websites and watched a video of it. I am in a wedding in the middle of December and would like to have a little bit of a tan since I am fair skinned. I have tanned before but it has been at least 7yrs. I typically try and stay out of the sun most of the time. I am mostly worried about streaking and color of the tan. They say it doesn't turn you orange. Also, does anybody know the average price of doing this type of tanning, that is something I can find on any of the websites. Thanks again for your help!

What can I do next?

mystic is pretty good but i really like the versa tan better. i know they have it at suns up tanning and it does cost a bit more (like $5 more each time) but the color is more natural looking and the spray is finer and dries faster.

make sure to do a couple now before the big day. the barrier cream takes some getting used to as far as applying it goes. i was orange under my nails and on my heels with the mystic but because the versa is such a fine mist, the discoloring isn't as bad but you'll still want some practice.

i paid $70 for a set of 7 mystic at islands tanning and i paid $30 for 2 versa at suns up. the color lasts about a week before you notice it fading. be warned the stuff is addictive! i was going once a week all summer long!

I did the mystic tan for a my sisters wedding a few years ago. I am very fair skinned, and unable to go in a regular tanning bed without getting burned. Of course my sister picked out a deep marron colored dress form my pasty white self! The mystic tan was great! I thought it looked very natural. I would give it a test run a few weeks before the wedding so you know how you will look & how to do it ahead of time. You can go for a few session depending on how tan you want to be.

Hi D.,

I did a mystic tan about a year ago before going to Las Vegas. I also have very fair skin, which i am nurturing for longevity by avoiding sun exposure. In my experience the mystic tan was pretty amazing. It is true what someone else said about there is a lot of prep work beforehand, but she also cleary didn't understand why a fair skinned person would want to avoid sun damage (natural or artificial). I did serious exfoliation the day of in the shower and focused on my joint areas where the skin is tougher. You also want to use a lot of lotion beforehand too.

I had no streaking and the color was amazing and completely natural. I only needed to do it the one time for a desirable tan color, but I did suggest what another person did and try at least once well before your wedding.

I did notice that some of the color rubbed onto my clothes the day I did it, but it washed out. The color started decreasing within a few days until it completely faded out within 2 weeks.

Hope this helps. =)

Hey.... I tan alot... I gave up trying to stay out of the sun... I use the sun as therapy... and indoor tan as well as outdoor tan...

No matter what you do.. Its worth the extra money that the tanning salons sell... they do really work...the mystic tan wouldnt waste my money on it... It doesnt look natural... and you have to prep your self and by alot more products...Its just more chemicals for your body to soak in and detox out... You might end up liking the benifit of tanning... like the increase in self esteem and how it makes you feel better (medically proven to help with depression and pain)...Thats why I do it ... search this (foods that help you tan)... you will be surpirzed.. Compare the salons and the beds... type of bulbs... and how many hours are on the bulbs.. there are several types of beds... and all of the salons will give you a tour and more than likely a sample tan... so invest in some eye protection and good lotion for tanning and after tanning lotion... to keep and promote healthy looking skin... Im 41, mother of 7 and wife of 18 years... I am told all the time I look like Iam in my early 30's... Take the info here and research more about tanning... not just the salons... and enjoy live a little...

I FEEL GOOD!!!! na na na... something like that anyhow..

Hey D.! I did the mystic tanning once when I was pregnant so I could get some photos taken of me for my husband...I didn't want a big protruding white belly! Anyway, it worked great and was fast and easy. It looks orangish for the first 24 hours until you can shower, then after you shower, it looks like a pretty natural tan. I had my whole body done for $20ish I think. I went to the one in the Hollywood district in Portland.

I did it a couple years ago for weddings in Vegas. I thought it worked pretty well...not too much streaking at all but it does rub off a little on clothes especially noticeable on white. I didn't turn orange but it was fairly light as I only did it twice in one week...it's a build up thing, gets darker the more times you do it. It only lasts for 6-10 days, and was $10-15 per session if I remember correctly. I would do it again...but I also liked the spay on do it yourself stuff from Nutrogena.

Hi D.. I did a mystic tan a few years ago and it gave me good color, but it made me smell really bad. I can't really explain it, but it was like awful body odor that wouldn't wash off. I've talked to other people about Mystic tan and I'm the only one that I have found that had the smelly reaction. You'll probably be fine.
