I got a text the other day about immediate placement for mystery shoppers. It gave a phone number and this website www.usjobssite.com. Does anyone have any experience with this or is it a scam? What a fun way to earn an extra $100-300 bucks just by shopping! Sounds like it's too good to be true though.

So What Happened?

I went to the website just out of curiosity. It was very professional looking, but towards the bottom there was a one time training fee, so I didn't go any farther. I figured it was bogus, but wanted to see what kind of feedback I got on this site about it. Thanks!

Any form of job offers in the form of a text would set off alarm bells in my book. Also, any use of the word "immediate" usually winds up in the too good to be true category.

Hi,

I do some occasional mystery shopping. It is actually pretty fun, to me, but doesn't earn much at all. I am picky about the shops that I select so I mostly do ones that are convenient and fit into my normal errands. I make between 10 to 15 bucks per shop but do spend about 15 minutes or so imputing the information. It a little extra cash but nothing crazy.

I did mystery shopping for Safeway...I did NOT have to pay for access nor did I have to pay for their "training".

If you have to pay to have access or for the training - it is most likely a scam. You shouldn't have to pay to work....

Keep in mind when mystery shopping - you HAVE to shop and spend money....you aren't just browsing through a store to see how the employees treat you. While shopping for Safeway was a great way for me to get my grocery shopping done, I HAD to spend money on the shops..return things and drive (getting paid for mileage) up to 40 miles for a shop...so keep that in mind when mystery shopping.

I've done Mystery shopping and you didn't make that much money. I also had to fill out detailed forms after shopping. The company I worked for was Sinclair Customer Metrics. The more companies you sign up with the more shops you might get. It seems there are a lot of people who do this in our area because by the time I log on the shops are gone.

I see you are in Omaha. If you guys buy lots of DVD's or Blu-rays there is actually a legit one. I did it then later worked for the company. But it's a used media shop called CD Tradepost. They have one in Papillion, Bellevue, CB, and one on 72nd and dodge and 144th and center.

Anyways once a week you go buy something then fill out the questionnaire about your experience. You do it for 8 weeks. You pay in advance for your stuff but as long as you actually do the job the full 8 weeks and keep your receipts at the end they send you a check and you got all that stuff for free in the end for just reviewing employees. When I worked there we got these reviews and it did affect your pay so keep that in mind when you judge them. But I was so happy to get about 80 dollars in free dvds.

Just go to their website and sign up to be a mystery shopper and if they accept you it's easy! A couple other places do it too but that is the only way I've seen being a mystery shopper and it not being a rip off. Free product.

You got an unsolocited text with a website address for $100-$300 a month. !!! Lucky you, right???

You know the drill.......If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

They are randomly texting numbers to see who "bites" and playing with emotions with the $$ factor.

There are some companies out there who hire mystery shoppers but remember you DO NOT PAY for anything as far as training but if you are shopping, YOU DO PAY for your gas, time, and whatever merchandise you must get from the store where you are mystery shopping. At most it would be a wash.

Be careful... there are so many scams out there.

There definitely are legitimate mystery shopping companies.
However, I am suspicious about anyone contacting me by e-mail telling me I can get an immediate job doing anything.
They are 99% bogus.

There are legit companies though. If you have just want a little extra cash for doing shopping you would already do and fill out the survey, you might like it.
Some of the other moms have given great insight to this.

Best wishes.

If I received a text, i would delete it...especially if I didn't give my number to someone showing interest in their job.

My adage - if it sounds too good to be true...it usually is.
