Hi All

I am thinking of traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC in August. I have heard that there is a risk of hurricanes in August. Is this true? We have an opportunity to rent a 3 bdr condo for a very inexpensive price and are very interested in going. But am now worried that we'll get stuck in a hurricane.......has anyone travelled to SC in August. How is the weather?

Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

Hi L.,
Every other summer I take a trip to Myrtle beach with my daughter and we go the last two week in August and I have yet been stuck in a hurricane. The water is great and the beach is not too crowded. The amusement parks are still open and if you're in to golf that is the place for you.
I hope you get to enjoy your vacation.

I've been to North Carolina, the Outerbanks, in August and the weather was stellar!! I figure it should be the same for you in South Carolina.

Hi L.,
My family and I went to Myrtle Beach for our family reunion in August last year. We had a blast! It was very hot but since we were right on the beach we didn't care. There is also a amusement pier and tons of mini golf an aligator farm aquarium... But we never ao much as had a drizzle!
I say go, and have fun!

Hi L.,

Throughout the whole summer there is a chance of hurricanes in SC. I've been there in June when a hurricane hit the day before and in August when there was not one. Myrtle Beach is beautiful and if you have the chance to go I would. One thing you should watch out for are riptides which occur all the time.

I have family down there and go often do not worry. The only thing that may happen is a hurricane will come and you have to decide to go or not and often when that happens we go anyway and the storm goes past. No worries. B.

Hi L.,
I vacation in SC with my family almost always in August! We've rented the same beach house for the last 4 years and have had beautiful weather: sunny and hot! There is always a chance of a hurricane during hurricanes season but I wouldn't worry too much. Hope you have fun!
Best,
H.
