There are allergy shots, however it takes awhile before you see a difference in your allergies. I would go to an allergist and talk with them about your options.
My wedding date falls on my allergy season. Is there anything I can do earlier in my allergy season which is from August-October to tame my allergies down? I don't want to do the over the counter stuff. Makes me sleepy/drowsy. Is there such a thing as a shot you can get a your doc's office? or would it be just easier to change the wedding date?

I would talk to an allergist I have year round allergies and they helped me get my symptoms under control. The one thing that I would recommend would be a nasal wash.
The allergy shots can only be done after an allergy test has been completed. My allergist advised against it because it is very time consuming (once a week for 3-5 months just to start), and my allergies are under control with 2 medications.
Another Allegra and Singulair fan here. Actually, the Allegra I take is AllegraD (with decongestant). Talk to your internist or see an allergist. I agree with what another person said. You have to take it every day during your season (I typically start a month before) or else it doesn't work as well.
I take Allegra and Singulair - has changed my life! Definitely talk to a doctor about your symptoms (I haven't even seen an allergist - I've worked with my family doctor for the past few years to try different things). I have to take the medication all the time from spring to fall, every day, not just when I'm having symptoms. Once the symptoms start it's too late for the medication to help.
I also can't take OTC meds because they either don't work or make me so sleepy I can't work or function very well. Good luck!
Don't panic. If you are getting married next year, just start gearing up now. This is my baaaad season too - RAGWEED - , and that dreaded, arbitrary, "August 15th date", does put me on alert, but I have learned how to prepare. See an allergist and talk about your allergies. You may have to consider allergy shots or taking something like Zyrtec, Claritin OTC, Clarinix, Allegra and allergy, nasal sprays (Clarinex is my drug of choice, as is Singulair... They works great for me and are non-drowsy but may work, differently, for you.) I also took allergy shots for years. I never desired to take medicine but I truly used to dread the end of summer, because, my head would swim in a fog for 6 weeks. It's was my bad attitude to get excited when all the outdoor plants, would be dead, due to the "first big frost" and an end to ragweed season. I was tired of feeling like that!
Another thing to consider, certain foods are related to ragweed and if you are really sensitive to ragweed, you should consider avoiding them around this season... foods like watermelon, bananas, zucchini and cucumbers. Also, products that have echinacea (used in cold remedies) and chamomile can all contain some form of ragweed.

My thought is.. I always hated feeling like I had to stop my life for two months because my allergies controlled me. Years ago, I changed my attitude and took back the season! I take precautions (I don't open windows during this season, especially in my bedroom) and I stay on a good regime. I regularly dust and have a good filter on my air conditioner. I love Summer (and early Fall) again!
Truly this is a lovely time to get married. Just be proactive. I hope you enjoy yourselves!
