My 11 year old stepson was sitting in class at school and says he seen a ghost. An old man with a long white beard. He believes it so much that he asked his friends if they seen it. I believe in ghosts but my husband does not. My stepson is so afraid now that if you leave the room for too long he will come to see what you are doing because he is afraid to be alone. He has been sleeping with his mother everynight for the past week, which is very understandable, but we are still very concerned afraid of what might be going on in his head. He is a very well behaved, sweet boy. Never gets into trouble, always does his homework. He is involved in sports and loves to play Guitar Hero 3 on his Wii. He watches wresting, Jake and Josh and those types of shows. He doesn't watch scary movies so I don't think it is a result of tv. We are not sure what may be happening with him or how to deal with this. It scared hm very badly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. I have been seing spirits since I was 3 years old and I am now 30 years old. There is several things he can do. He can tell the ghost that he is seing to go home or go to the other side, or just leave me a lone. If he is seeing them at home too he can sprinkle salt around his room, out side the house, and inside the house. He has a very special gift.

I also suggest that you and him should reas some books by Sylvia Brown. Some of her books really help me. Good Luck.

I would not discourage his feelings. Let him know that he and your husband are there to comfort him. My daughter sees things as well, especially when she is sick. It freaked me out the first time she said something to me because she discribed my grandmother who had passed away years before hand. I told her that it is okay and they are there to protact us and guide us and that she is lucky to have seen her. I would ask him to discribe how he felt and what was going on and if he has seen this spirit again. If he does is your stepson with other people around him or is he alone. This might be his angel and it might be there to help him through some emotion that he is getting ready to expeirence. But just make sure he knows that you are there for him no matter what.

Do you know of any strange history at his school? Anything that might have happened there in the past that might lead to a ghost sighting? You may want to talk to someone at the school and see if this has happened with any other students. I would definitely do some research with him into ghosts and spirits and try and help him calm his fears by assuring him that not all ghosts are here for scary reasons. Other moms mentioned angels, I too believe that they are among us. It may sound crazy but I was visiting Gettysburg a few years ago and my mother and I spotted a male all dressed in blue running in the distance like crazy across a field. He was clearly holding something long and thin -- like a musket or rifle -- and as soon as we both said out loud "look over there!" he was gone. Gettysburg is known to be one of the most haunted places on Earth due to the extremely high number of gruesome deaths that happened there. Of course there are plenty of people who think my mom and I are crazy :-) but we know what we saw...

Maybe take him to the libray and let him check out some books, let him know it's okay. It could help his fears? Let him know other people has had other experiences also? Best of Luck!

Hi S. my name is D.. I have an 8 year old boy and 2(almost 3) year old girl. Both of my children see spirits. You should tell him it is natural to see spirits, not scarry. Although it is o.k. to be scared too. It's important that he know it wasn't his imagination or his eyes playing tricks on him. Ask him what went through his mind when he saw the spirit, did any specific thoughts or images go through his mind? Let him know the spirit won't hurt him. The spirit was probably shocked that your stepson saw him too. There is a ton of information on the internet about seeing spirits. There is a cool show called Ghosthunters on t.v. They use high tech equipment to catch spirits on video and audio. These guys actually search for the proof to prove or disprove the spirit activity. Tell him he has angels around him all of the time and if he gets scared to ask his angels to protect him. Angels are here to help us, but we have to ask for their help. Children and young people are more likely to have these experiences. Talking about it with you and his mom will help, he will be alright. Try and be open and honest with him. Talking helps a great deal.

I don't have any advice other than to believe in him and what he may have seen.
