My son has had a rash on his face since he was 3 months old, he is now 7 months old. I have been to the Dr. many times and have not found a solution. The Dr. gave him Nysatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide and then Hydrocortisone Valerate. Both are steroid creams. I was told to put it on his cheek once a day for a week and then stop using it. It gets to looking better by the end of the week but once I stop the use of it it comes back. It gets to be a bright red color. Doesn't seem to bother him, but I know it looks bad. I am worried about scaring. Are there any home remades that might work instead of all of these creams I have been using? He is breast feed, I have introduced him to a new food each week and discontinue the food he ate the weeks prior.

J.,
It sounds like eczema, it won't scar, it will most likely disappear by the time he is 2.
Meanwhile, the cetaphil is an option. Stop using soaps, just pat the skin dry. Keep it moist with lotion after you clear it up with ointments.
RE: laundry. You might want to launder your bras, shirts, his clothes, bibs and sheets and anything that comes in contact with his face in something really mild, like Ivory Snow. Then in the last rinse put 1/2-1 cup of white vinegar. Do not rinse it out. Make these changes one at a time and you will know what helped.
It is hard to see what looks like an angry rash appear on a little one's face, but it doesn't seem to bother them at all.

Hi J.. I had the same problem with my two boys. I was always taking them to the dr. Well, their pediatrician told me to try something different on them. Instead of using baby soaps I began using Cetaphil soap and the cetaphil lotion on my boys. The Cetaphil soap is usually where the acne meds are. Since then I have not had any problems with rash. I also would use Gentle naturals Disney baby Fragrance Free Baby Eczema Cream.
Usually when I bathed them I would tap dry their face and lather this lotion on their faces. I would apply it at least twice a day. It worked also. Hope this works for ya.

J., since your son is breastfed could it be the bath soap you are bathing in Or the laundry detergent you wash your clothes in that could possibly be causing an allergic reaction? Im just trying to help you find the root of the rash. I don't have a remedy, sorry. With it being on his face only, that's why I am questioning this. Maybe you could get it cleared up with the hydrocortisone & then keep Vaseline on it as a protective barrier. Does the rash get dry looking or just red? You could take him & get allergy test done on him to see if he has allergic reactions to certain things & then you could narrow it down & possibly avoid whatever is causing the rash if it isn't your bath soap or laundry detergent. Sorry i'm no help in a remedy for a cream to put on it.
Good Luck!

My entire home is switched to a green brand of product, laundry, grooming, medicine, cleaning, food..you name it. It makes a huge difference. I also have a product that treats eczema and psoriasis so could very likely help your sons skin. The choices you make in household consumables can very much affect your health and your kid's of course. I'd love to share it with you.
