Hi J.,
Oh my goodness! That poor little kitten and poor you!! We have an old dog that can clear a house with her flatulence, so I can relate. Peeeeeeeeeeyewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!
Have you called your Vet.? My suggestion is to change his diet. Many "pet foods contain beans, bran, whole wheat and fat and these are difficult for the digestive system to break down. As a result, these and other ingredients collect in the colon and ferment, causing large amounts of gas."
I checked with a book I have entitled Symptom Solver for Dogs and Cats. On page 147 it says, "A gassy pet is often a worm-infested pet." This was stated by Dr. John Brooks, DVM from Fork, Maryland. "Tapeworms and roundworms are often to blame because they irritate the lining of the intestine and interfere with proper digestion." The book said to collect a fresh stool sample and take your kitten to a vet. Flatulence that occurs frequently should always be checked with a vet.
Other than worms, giving milk can cause problems because many pets lack the enzyme to digest it. Food allergies can be a problem too.
Good luck!
T.
