Hi Guys!
My boys are so tired of sandwiches. Anyone have any lunch ideas? They refuse to eat sandwiches at this point, sick of the same old, same old!!
Thanks,
N.

Pitas.
Shishkebobs - they can make their own!
Mac and cheese and something extra - tomatoes, peas, broccoli.
Salad topped with chicken
Hummus and flatbread
Or put the same sandwich stuff in a roll and slice for sushi style sandwiches.
Soup

My 8 year old is the pickiest eater on the planet--IN REVERSE!
That is, he'll eat anything--once or twice--then he's "bored of it"!
He gave up on sandwiches years ago--but he LOVES wraps. How about wraps?
Or soup? Or cold chicken? Or yogurt smoothies with fruit? Leftovers?
He likes tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad on a croissant--I guess he doesn't consider that a "sandwich"!
And he loves salads -with anything and everything in them--but always trying new dressings.
Mac and cheese, salad, pizza, fruit and yogurt, pastas, sometimes we do breakfast foods, I always have things like fish, chicken nuggets, corn dogs on hand, leftovers,
My kids love the hot rotisserie chicken that I get at the grocery store so sometimes I'll give them that with a side of mac-n-cheese or yogurt. They also love to make their own pizzas. Even my 20 month old makes his own. I just buy the pizza dough that comes in the package and you just add water and divide it up between the two of the them. Its a quick and easy lunch.
I used to throw in some "snack lunches"..a little buffet of celery or apple and peanut butter, fruit and yogurt to dip, cheese and crackers, hommus and chips, a smoothie made with all good things...seems like a milkshake, nuts. If they are refusing sandwiches, ask them what they would like. Anything will do as long as it is good for them and they will eat it. Make it fun and they will probably eat anything!
I agree roll-ups!
Or chicken quessadillas. I buy a rotisseri chicken and shred it up. Then just cut up some onions or tomatos or whatever you want.
Put a tortilla in your pan, add chicken, shreded cheese, salsa or sauce, add a tortilla on top and grill it up for a minute, then flip.
So good!
Also, grilled cheese with tomato soup. Tuna salad on toasted bread or a fancy roll, deviled eggs, sweet potato fries....
my kids feel like they are "cooking" if i give them crackers, cheese, and lunchmeat to stack. Also, we will put yogurt in the freezer & they think it is a treat then. Fruit kabobs are a hit too.
My kids (well, all of us!) love tostadas. You can buy the premade shells, a can of refried beans heated, shredded lettuce and shredded cheese. Everyone loves them and they are my go to meal when I'm short on time!
All fantastic suggestions...and I will add with my daycare children and especially my own school age nieces and nephews whe they come a few days over the summer....I use different breads for those PB&J's or other sandwiches (we do alot of eating outside and keeping stuff the right temp gets challenging...think picnic foods and needing to prep ahead for ease for this DC provider).
The best one we have so far is ANY sandwich in a hot dog bun...not sure why that long narrow bread makes a difference...but??? Kid logic I suppose! I also do alot of large cookie cutters for sandwiches..simple shapes cut best. I use the "edges" that still have ingredients in them for the 9mos-18 mos old's who don't care about the shape. No waste that way for us.
Good luck!
hot dogs? Hamburgers? mac and cheese? a submarine sandwich? grilled ham/cheese sandwiches? Salad and fruit?
We do PBJ roll-ups or turkey/cream cheese roll-ups, etc. w/ flour tortillas ...
I second the cookie cutter suggestion! My son will eat any sandwich if it's cut into a shape.
-Pasta salad with veggies and deli meats
-cheese and crackers with fruit
-deli meat "pinwheels" where you take meat, cheese and a little mayo, roll up and slice
-chicken tenders
-fish sticks
-popcorn shrimp
- "dippers" (as my son calls them) where you have a couple different proteins, veggies and fruit and they can "dip" them into a variety of condiments.
-quesadillas
-flat bread pizzas
My kids like to have peanut butter & crackers or meat, cheese & crackers as an alternative. I've also sent in "quesadillas" (tortillas with melted, sliced cheese & cut into wedges.) That has changed things up for us a bit!
