I received a free trip to Californya for going to a time share presentation. I have a son who is 9 months old right now but will be almost a year and a half old by the time I go on the trip. I am still nursing so I want to bring him with me. I do not know if he will be winged by then. My question is will he be old enough to ride any of the rides at Disney land? Do you think he will enjoy it or will he still be to young? It will be just me, my husband and my 9 month old son(he'll be 1 1/2 by the time we go) going on the trip.

What can I do next?

Definitely! Congrats on the trip. :) I won a trip to Disneyland too and went when my kids were 3 months & 16 months old. We had a great time!

My husband's uncle works for Disney studios, so we've gotten to visit LA and go to Disney quite a bit. We took our son when he was 16 months and then again when he was 4. There was a ton he could go on in it's a small world, etc. when he was only 16 months. Plus we took him again when he was 4, we also had our 3 month old with us. She actually got to go on a couple boat tours too. It was a fantastic time. I think if you don't take your child, you'll see all the young children there and wish you did. I also agree about California adventure having a neat bugs life area and water stuff. The rides there though are for older kids it seemed.

Yeah for you on the free trip :). I think you will be fine taking your son to disneyland. I highley recommend Disneys california adenture, I used to live in california and allmy friends and family have passes and that is where they take their little ones. Their is a playhouse disney show and a bugs life adventure area, if you go in the summer there are alot of areas for your child to run through water. One note last summer I took my 4 and 2.5 year ol to the Bugs life show and they were scared, I would not take them to that. If you are still nursing there are family rooms for you, ask, it is Disney and they are so helpful! Have a wonderful trip.

Hey! I think it depends on who is going. We took our daughter at 12 months and had a blast, but we had other family there- so we were able to go on some rides too. :) There are not a whole lot of rides for kids at that age. Its fun to look back at pictures of her with the disney characters.

I've probably been to Disneyland 50 times in my life...and I think he's old enough...I took my son when he was 8 months old the first time...and that was too young. BUT he had a blast at 18 months old! There's even a nursery type area off of Main Street where there are changing tables, places to nurse, etc. As far as rides, he can go on anything in Fantasyland (except that Snow White is a bit scary and some kids find Mr Toads Wild Ride scary too). He can also go on the Pooh Ride and Haunted Mansion Ride, Small World, Autopia, train, jungle cruise, Tiki Room, the new Nemo ride and there's another kid-dedicated land called Toon Town...Trust me, there's plenty for him to enjoy at that age. He even had fun running around Tom Sawyer Island. There's also the California Adventure Amusement Park across from Disneyland that has lots of kid friendly things too from what I hear (I haven't been since opening day and I was childless then, so I can't speak from experience as a parent).
Also if there are rides that you and your hubby want to go on, but your child isn't old enough, you can get a Baby Pass..just ask the attendant at the ride (Matterhorn, Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, etc). This allows you to both ride the ride without waiting in line twice.
Also, if you play it right and get a fast pass for a ride you want to go on, then go other rides until your fast pass comes due, you'll accomplish more in a shorter time.
When our little guy napped, we just had lunch OR rode the train...though he was a sound sleeper. But if you stay nearby, you can just go back to the hotel and put him down while you nap too!
What time of year are you going? Anytime school is out , it's pretty crazy, so if you can avoid Summer, Spring Break and Christmas it would be best...and weekdays are best. That said, they do close rides during the slow season (winter) for repairs...but it's not usually a big deal.
Have fun!

We took our son when he was about 10-11 months old. There is a whole group of rides that are for the little ones. I think it's "It's a small world" but I could be wrong. That place is so HUGE to me, I got so turned around. I think if he's 1 1/2 he should be old enough to enjoy himself there.

Hi G.,
I hate to be the sourpuss who disagrees with everyone but we took our child when he was a year old and it wasn't fun. He was sick, so that might have contributed to the problem but I don't remember very many rides for him to go on. Small World is closed until November. They have little kid rides that you can all go on but some of those are "scary" (loud noises & dark). I'm sure he can go on some of the adult rides (Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion) but others he's too small (Splash Mountain & Matterhorn). You can look at their website to see everything before you go. Maybe since your child will be a bit older than mine was, it will be better for you. I'm jealous you received a free trip! I love Disneyland! Have fun!

p.s. For the big rides that your son can't go on, don't forget to ask for a single ride pass or a stroller pass. It allows you to go to the front of the line.

He's definitely old enough. Disneyland is a great place for babies. There are a few rides that you can even take him on. For the rides you can't take him on you can do a swap with your husband. When you get to the front of the line one of you holds the baby while the other goes on the ride, then you switch. You have to ride the ride alone, but you still get to go!

Also, if your baby isn't weaned by then, Disneyland has a nursing station on Main Street that is great.

Enjoy your trip!
