My little girl was like that, but she just has a high pain tollerance, like me. If she had a problem with her reflexes they would have caught it when she was born when they tested her APGAR. Bring it up when you see your pediatrition next time and they'll help you figure it out. The best over the counter thing I found for diaper rash is Aveeno diaper rash cream. It's amazing! If you are still having a hard time with rash, try coating the diaper with some original maalox before you put it on, in addition to the rash cream. I've also tried mixing the maalox with the rash cream, that works too. Good luck!

It could be a yeast infection. My son had a horrible looking diaper rash that didn't go away w/anything I tried & bled now & then. If she's had it for more than a few days & it's not getting any better, or is getting worse, I'd take her in & hopefully that's all it is & they can give you meds to treat it. They gave us Nystatin cream for my son, I believe it's the same stuff in Monistat cream too. If you can't afford a doc visit, maybe trying some Monistat will work..

If she's moving her legs, I'm sure she's fine. Maybe pain receptors just take a while to start working...

I remember accidentally whacking my son's legs on the doorjam...no reaction, and this happened many times with these type of injuries. He actually has only started reacting lately, and I think that is because he gets kisses on his booboos. For the rash, try MotherLove Diaper Cream and Thrush, it is very soothing.
Also, if you think it might sting (even if there is no reaction), you can also use just a wet washcloth on her bum, sometimes the wipes can sting with the chemicals they have.

Hi B., I am sure she is alright. I am a grandma and I have changed many diapers. There are times that I have been shocked that the baby did not cry and gave me no idea that she was in pain to the point of bleeding. But as soon as I put any medicine on to help soothe her boy I heard it then. The absolute best thing I have ever cured that kind of diaper rash with is Vitamin E. If you have it in capsule form just nip off the top and squeeze it out. A plus to the vit. E is they do not cry that it hurts them. to answer your comment about Mia being able to feel her legs just flick the bottoms of her feet with your fingers and watch for her to respond. This helped my little ones wake up and nurse. So, try it when she begins to doze so you will know you are really getting a response. I am sure everything is fine do not worry. GL K. K.

Just a little question.... are you sure the blood was from the rash, or is it possible that her bm was bloody? Just check. If it was the rash only, I don't think you have any worries. As I understand it, most children take what seems like a long time to register tactile sensations, good or bad. My little guy was about 3 months when I clipped the tip of his thumb with the nail clippers. Not a peep out of him.

That said, for us the best thing has been letting our little guy soak in the warm tub with about a 1/4 c. of baking soda. I know at 4 months she's not sitting on her own, but if you can, sit in the bath with her, keeping her little bum in the water for about 10 minutes. It works great. Good luck.

whoa. don't jump to conclusions here. Just be super grateful that she's not bothered by the diaper rash! Neither of my boys cry with bad diaper rash- they're just tough kids- even with shots they shed like one tear and they'll smile at the nurse that just gave them the shot. Don't worry. She's fine- she's just a tough girl ;)

there's a difference between pain, discomfort and annoyance. My kids didn't always cry with their rashes, and sometimes they did bleed. She may just have an unusually high pain tolerance. I don't think you have anything to worry about, B.. She's moving her legs. If you're that worried, get her checked out, or squeeze her bum cheeks and see if you get any reaction.
