My husband has similar hair although he cuts his short :-). I've tried Aubrey Organics and I've read reviews about it and it's wonderful for the hair that you're describing. You need the tiniest amount and although it's expensive it can go a long way if you only use it sparingly. It sounds like she really doesn't need the harsh chemicals on her hair. I'd go lightly and wash her hair maybe 2-3 times a week at the most.

You could include some fish oil, they have lemon flavor now, to help with it but I'm not certain it would help if it's just the kind of hair she has. Wild Oats carries a brand called Carlsons which is wonderful.

Good Luck.

My daughter has the SAME problem!! I find that if you use Suave smoothers (They're about $1.50 a bottle, and have conditioner in them), and use a seperate bottle of conditioner in her hair after rinsing, it helps!! (Again, Suave works REALLY well!!!) Also, will she sit down to get her hair fixed? My daughter is four and has Shirley Temple curls, so it's a bit harder to fix, but I found it's easier to maintain the frizz if you keep it up in pigtails or even a ponytail. If you go out and buy her a "special" pack of ponytails, it helps!! Also, if you WASH her hair and condition it every other day, it helps!! My daughter is a red head, so dry ANYTHING I'm just about an expert in!! Just make sure anything you use is appropriate for children!! I know it sounds easy to just use your own anti-frizz shampoo or product on her, but the second she gets it in her eyes, her frizzy hair is going to be the last of your concerns!!

I have had dreadlocks in my hair and when I combed them out my hair was a wreck!!! So i used Silk Therapy, which is an oil that you use daily. It repairs hair, and keeps it moisturized. It saved my hair, and I know for a fact that it would work for her hair too. Try to find it at a grocery store, rather than a hair salon because they double the price. a bottle at the grocery store costs aroud $7-11, where they will charge $40 at the salon. They know the quality of the product!! Try it out!!

You are probably doing everything you can as far as diet goes.Have you tried a detangler that you spray on her hair? It's like a leave in conditioner for kids. I had the same problem when I was a kid and this seemed to help.

Hi D.,
Your daughter's hair needs moisture. A good leavin conditioner helps with this. I have naturaly curly hair myself as I recieved it from my father who was african american. I am mixed meaning my mamma is irish and german. So my hair is naturaly curly but a soft curl. Whats important is this what type of curl is your daughter's hair. Because you don't want to put the wrong product in it. It very much needs moisture. I also use a cream called wired that I get at the salon and use sparingly. You don't need much of either but put both in after hair has been washed (while its still wet) and wet her hair down before you comb it for the day and put a small amount of both in as well. You will see a differance in a couple of weeks. This will also help withthe tangles. I use a detangler spray from sauve (for kids) on my own little girl's hair. It does not take them out but helps to simplfy the process. I use sauve shampoo and conditioner but its worth the little bit more to get a good leave in conditioner and a cream. My email is ____@____.com if you want to speak further on this.

Unfortunately, curly hair tends to be dry and consequently FRIZZY. I have naturally curly hair. Treseme (spelling?) is a pretty good one..used to be salon, but not anymore and pretty inexpensive (less thatn $5 for a liter where i live). I like garnier fructise also (for dry/damaged hair). The oily hair serums help...put it on while the hair is wet or dry. Leave in spray conditioners are okay. Just make sure that what you use is very moisturizing. Also, gel in wet hair helps weigh it down so it can't go frizzy quite as easily and doesn't really dry sticky or crunchy unless you use too much. Good luck. There's no real easy answer to that problem...just learning the things that help best for HER hair. You could ask a beautitian about it also...they are trained to be able to give correct advice on how to manage hair...just ask when you take her in for a trim or get one yourself (as long as she is there with you). Hope this helps.

My daughter has very curly hair, we use two products that I love...Johnson's makes a new shampoo for curly and wavy hair, it's called extra conditioning shampoo, the bottle is white and orange instead of the usual yellow. After that or between washings, we use Noddle and Boo Conditioning Hair Polish spray. It's a little expensive but lasts a long time and is easy to use. Good luck!

My daughters and I have the same problem. I recommend the Infusium 23 - it's the best conditioner I've found, without buying products from the salon (I'm too cheap for that!), and I like Loreal's studio line Anit-Frizz cream too. Also, try massaging her scalp right before you brush her hair. It stimulates to release of natural oils, then brushing distributes the oil evenly (so you don't have a problem with an oily scalp). My oldest daughter loves the massage, and it really helps keep her hair looking nice.

go to your local drug store and get some oil moisturizer from the ethnic section. You can use; Luster, soft and beautiful, blue magic.... both my children are bi-racial, so they have that "in between" hair. and remember, that a little goes a long way...

I have a little of the same problem with mine and my daughters hair. Curly hair is almost always frizzy. The dry part could just be her hairs natural texture. I use frizz ease shampoo and conditioner on me and my daughter, it works great, and it's really not expensive. Is she mixed by any chance? Even if she's not, if her hair is really that dry, it would help a lot to use just a little hair grease after her hair dries. Just put a little on your palm, rub it on both hands and rub it through her hair evenly until all hair is coated, but be careful not to use too much, or it will just make her hair look dirty and oily. If you don't want to use hair grease, there is also this stuff called "flawless finishing cream" from frizz ease. It's about $5 for a tube, its sort of like a leave in conditioner, you can use it on dry or wet hair, but I find it works better if the hair is dry. You can get frizz ease at Kmart and I think its at Target and walmart too.

I have a 4 year old that has this same problem. I use Infusium 23 leave in spray conditioner. She gets baths at night, and in the morning I just wet her hair down, and the brush usually just slides right through it. It is a miracle conditioner! I also use suave daily moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, which works great, and doesn't cost much! My daughter has very frizzy curly hair, and my friend who is a hair dresser bought me some stuff called Super skinny serum made by Paul Mitchell. It is like an oil, you only need one squirt. Rub your hands together, and run your hand through her hair. This helps tame the hair SO MUCH. The curls stay so nice and soft, and helps with the frizz (and the afro look lol). I hope this helps. Good luck. :)

I feel your daughters pain!!

I just started using a frizz eliminator called "silky sexy hair" It is wild! You only need the smallest bit, & it almost completely changes the texture of your hair. I found it at Kmart, it wasn't cheap..almost $20, but like I said you only need a tiny squirt!
