I just noticed last night at about 1am when she woke up that my 4yr old had nasty breath. She is not sick or anything. I also brushed her teeth (after she did) tht night. Odd

My girls get smelly breath when they are sick or even when they are just fighting something off. If you're brushing regularly, I'm sure it will pass...
This is very common with sinus infections and even post-nasal drip. Reflux is a possibility too. These can be addressed with simple nutritional changes so the problem doesn't reoccur. If she's got a full-blown infection, it's possible antibiotics would be needed very short term. Try pressing on the area below her eyes - not on the very soft tissue above the bones, but a little lower and also closer to the nose, and above the eyebrows. If it hurts, it could be sinuses.
Questions to ask yourself...
Is she drinking enough fluids during the day
Do you brush her teeth in the morning when she wakes up?
Does she have a cold/sinus infection?
Have you taken her to a pediatric dentist yet? Some people go when the first teeth erupt.
I waited until mine were 3 or 4 yrs old and could sit in the chair. You could talk to your pediatrician too.
I just read somewhere that stinky breath could be an indication of an ear ache.
This has happened with my daughter intermittently for years. One of her medications used to give her thrush, basically a yeast infection of the mouth. Her tongue was coated in white. We used "gentian violet" to treat it. You can get it for around $2 over the counter but usually have to ask the pharmacist. It does stain and doesn't taste great. We used a clean Q-tip to apply each time so as not to contaminate the bottle.
If that's not the problem, you might try a tongue scraper. They work wonders. You can get them at most pharmacies, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. in with the toothbrushes. My daughter uses hers every morning and night to scrape build-up off of her tongue. It was so effective, I got my own - just in case!
You might want to call your pediatrician if it persists just to be sure there isn't an underlying problem.
You should ask the pediatrician - could be a sign of something like acid reflux. Good luck!
You can have stinky breath w/ a sinus infection Evan is finally over his and now is trying to get environmental allergies under control but that's how I knew it wasn't back his breath didn't stink. You will probably want to call her ped. When you say perfume make sure its not a fruity smell because that can be high sugar.
