Painful burps are a sign of reflux, where the food comes back up the esophagus and burns. Does she show any of these symptoms: http://www.infantrefluxdisease.com/infant-reflux-symptoms...
I have a 6 1/2 month old daughter and she usually never cries but the past couple days she has cried alot more for no apparant reason and everytime she burps she screams like it hurts her. I was wondering if anyone else has had similiar experiences and might could tell me what it could be?
I took her to the doctor and she had an ear infection and an upper respiratory infection. Thank You for the responses!

Kind of a wierd question, but is the the actuall burping that makes her cry? or the act of burping her, patting her back etc? If it is the burping, you may want to take her to the dr. Doesnt sound to serious, but maybe something you need to check on. I have no idea as my kids never did this. Hope someelse here knows a bit more and can help you.
Could be GERD:

I'd recommend visiting with your pediatrician if it doesn't go away soon.
Hi S., I know about the burping and the crying. My daughter was 10 weeks early and weighed 3lbs at birth. She stayed in the NICU for 1 whole month. Before every tube feeding they had to give her some medicine for reflux. When they sent her home, they did not send home any of that medication. After the first day home, she threw up everytime she ate. After a couple of days of that, she started burping and then swallowing it, which would burn and then she would cry, alot!! We thought she had colic, called the doc for days at a time and they did not believe me that it was not colic. So after several days of constant crying from 10-12pm, I finally got her to sleep one morning at around 4am on a pillow at an angle. I called the doc and told her I was on my up to her office and was not leaving until they gave me this medication. It is called Reglan. If you type this into Google, it will tell you all about it and you can see if the reflux symptoms are what your daughter is having. It comes in a liquid and I don't really remember having to fight my daughter to take it. I think once she figured out that it helped her stop hurting, she was all about it!! She will be three in July and does not take it anymore. She only took it for a couple of months, about two or three months. I hope this helps, I know how helpless you sometimes feel. It is ok to cry yourself!! HA HA Anyway, good luck and God bless.
My daughter had reflux and it hurt her to burp, too. Her GI specialist recommended a dropper-full of Maalox. Might want to check w/ your pediatrician first though.
They have gas drops. I used them on both my kids. they seem to help. If that doesn't help try burbing her more often.
