Mine wouldn't either, so I put them on thier belly. My 6 yr old had GERD really bad and the dr actually told me to put him on his belly. If you really want her to sleep on her back you might try a swaddle blanket. You can use a regualr blanket, but the swaddle me blandets are easier.

Sleep positioners worked wonders for both of my children. They have a variety of ones out there. I say try one of those and see how it works out.

a friend of mine has the same problem with her 13-week old...so she just puts him down on his belly, and he sleeps 6 and 7 hours at a stretch. might be worth asking your doc, but your baby's need for sleep might outweigh the rather small risk of sids from putting her on her belly...

Our daughter who is now 8 would NOT sleep on her back. She would jump and wake herself up continuously. Our son is 16 and when he was a baby it was recommended that all babies sleep on their stomachs rather than the back so if they spit up it would have less chance to choke them. I had several girl-friends who also had babies that wouldn't sleep on their back and they all told me to lay her on her side propped up with a blanket OR put that baby on her stomach and let everyone get some sleep. I knew our son had done great with sleeping on his stomach so I felt more comfortable doing it with her but I was still nervous since the drs. were now recommending against it. We HAD to get some rest and she did great after that. Good luck and do whatever works for the new baby and you!

All 3 of my kids were not side/back sleepers. My husband and I did a lot of research into the tummy sleeping - and this is what we did. We took everything out of the crib and raised the bumper pads so they were in the middle of the rails. You'll have a space underneath the pads on the bottom and on top. This way carbon dioxide can flow thru the bottom. Carbon dioxide is heavy, dense. By doing this, it can escape. And you can buy the raisers that go underneath the sheet and lay her on her tummy towards the top of the raiser. I hope I helped some!

As others have mentioned...you can try sleep positioners or roll up receiving blankets very tightly and use them to prop your newby on her back.

My little girl would not sleep on her back either. I would put her on her back each night and find her on her tummy in the morning. I kept her crib empty - no pillows or blankets or toys so that if she did end up on her tummy, then there would not be anything in the area to obstruct her breathing, etc....

Congratulations on your new baby!

My daughter never slept very well on her back. When my mom came to visit, she put her on her stomach & it was wonderful. I would prop her up a little so that if she did spit up she would not be in it & in danger of suffocating. Hope this helps!

All 3 of my kids have been tummy sleepers. When my oldest was a baby it was recomended that they sleep on their tummy. Now, I have a 2 yr old and a 5 mos old. Both of my boys have had reflux and their doctor suggested that they sleep on their tummys. I prop the mattress up a bit and they were both fine. Neither one would sleep on their backs. Ever. But it was nice to have someone else tell me that it was ok. With SIDS it is SO SCARY to think you might be doing something to contribute to it. But, all babies are different. If your baby is happier on his tummy then he will flip himself over that way pretty soon anyway. Good luck!

Personally, on their stomach was the ONLY way I could get my 4 kids to sleep. I always tried to put them on their back, and after a week or so of crying I switched them. It works! And, when we were babies the comman knowledge was to put kids on their stomach.

Try using a sleep positioner. It can hold them in a certain position, (side or back).
