My kids and I just went on Monday. It was the youngests first trip. The older two had sealant put on their 6 year molars (they are 7 and 5) and all 3 had floride treatment (youngest is 3). It was fully covered for all of us. As long as we go no more than 3 times in a 12 month period we are covered. So check your insurance beause it varies.

Our first visit ran $136 out of pocket - no insurance. We did not have x-rays on the first visit. This just covered exam, cleaning and fluoride. Hope this helps.

It depends on the dentist. If you do not have insurance, then each dentist fees may differ. Some will give you a 10% discount if you pay in full. If you have insurance check what your copay is. MOst dental insurance cover preventative at 100% (no copay) others have copays that range usually under $30, but it depends on your plan.

If you do not have insurance I would recommend you to look for a dental discount or private insurance plan. Many dental plans are not too expensive and it will save you money in the long run.

For a very first visit you can probably expect to pay $100 - $150 depending on the dentist. This is because a new [patient exam is more extensive than a regular check up. After that the check ups could range from $60-100. If you do not have insurance and can't get it, you should be able to find a dentist that will work with you on payments.

I would highly recommend you finding a pediatric dentist, and not a general dentist. You'll find the experience with your child much more pleasant.

Good luck!

um....mine was a 30 co pay with insurance coverage

had a "happy visit" for the VERY FIRST time where they only showed my daughter the different tools, sounds they made and let HER put them in her mouth and play with them like mr sucky or the water fountain (sprayer) make sure they do this with your child, if not, the loud sounds of the tools can scare your child and it'll be hard as hell convincing the child to sit still

our dtr is 2 and she's been to the dentist w/ us 2x. we book our appts as a family: dad and baby go first; mom and 7yr old go 2nd, and we are in rooms next to each other. try to go as early in the day as possible. less wait and everyone is in a better mood. first time baby went, she watched and got a tour = free.
2nd time, she let them look at her dinosaur teeth, they did a little scaling and brushing = happy smile visit = free
since they used an instrument, we thought we'd be charged, but we weren't we even called when our insurance statement came b/c we thought there was a mistake! for kids, they just want it to be positive and they can do more and more each time, so if/when there is a problem, the kid doesn't freak out.
Just call and ask! if your child is older, they may have to xray, seal molars, pull, fill cavity and that all costs. but if it is a little one, it should be minimal.
ADA recommends first dental trip w/in 6 mos of first tooth! but most parents don't take kids till 3-4 yrs, or if there is a problem.

It should be your copay.

Also, I made her appointment and my appointment on the same day. She sat in my lap while they cleaned my teeth. When they squirt water in my mouth, they would squirt in her mouth and use Mr. Thirsty.

She had been before but would not let them do anything. They did not charge me that time. This past time, she was willing to let them put things in her mouth and brush her teeth so I did get charged.

When I took my son for his first dental visit I paid a little under $100 with insurance. They took a lot of x-rays and cleaned his teeth.

it depends on your insurance, if you are just going in for a "checkup" it is usually covered
