My 12 month old baby girl just went through a weird episode of outburst cries and screams for like an hour then became drowsy... Now that shes asleep it seems like she is in a very very deep sleep and wont wake up, but she is breathing... I pintched her nose, blew in her face, moved her all around, but no response... This same thing happened last week when she went through a weird staring mode and disorientation for two hours after that she became very very drowsy and the next morning she would not get up and this is not normal for her... any suggestions? I took her to the er and the doc was very rude and sent her home even while her being disoriented in all....

What can I do next?

If you can't wake her take her again to the ER and insist someone take a good look at her. I wouldn't wait until morning!

I hope that you have left for the ER by now...and don't be shy about demanding that a pediatric doctor come in and see her!!! It almost sounds to me like she could be having seizures of some sort. Please let us know what you find out

Sounds like maybe a seizure. If she wakes up, I would call the Ped 1st thing in the AM and make an appointment. IF SHE DOES NOT WAKE UP TAKE HER TO THE ER RIGHT AWAY.

Take her to the ER. Again. And see another Doctor.

It could be anything. Seizures, dehydration, Night Terrors, anything.
Guessing won't help.

When she has the "weird outburst cries and screams for like an hour....." and then becomes drowsy... are you leaving her there in the crib? Picking her up?

After crying/screaming for 1 hour... any baby would become drowsy as well. But in conjunction with her other behavior... you really need to check her out. Take her to the ER. See another Doctor.

have you talked to her regular doctor? I would call in the morning and set up an appt. This isnt normal and could get worse. She wont wake up now? I would be very concerned.

if you cannot wake her, and i mean really try, put water on her face or something, take her to the ER. if she does at least wake up to some point, first thing tomorrow go to your doctor.

write down everything that seems unlike her so you can have everything organized, and dont downplay it. make it very clear that you want something done. if you are not forceful enough, or if you ask "what do you think", doctors sometimes dismiss parents as being overly worried. you want to be confident enough to say "where can i go to find out what is going on". that puts a different question to them, and more liability if they ignore it.

im not saying something is definately wrong, but what you are describing, is not usual behavior. good luck, please update if you get a diagnosis!

That is very scary! You should try to take her to her doctor and see what they say. Try getting a wet wash cloth and dripping water on her to see if that will wake her up. I know it sounds mean, but there could be something seriously wrong with her. She may need a brain scan of some kind. I hope she is ok. Best of luck!

My first thought with the staring was a seizure. My 1 year old is really hard to wake up, but that's just because she's a heavy sleeper (when she sleeps). Is she not waking or not responding at all? If she's not responding at all then I'd be really concerned. If it's just not waking fully, then that might not be that unusual. I would do like the others have suggested and if she doesn't respond, take her to the ER or your doctor in the morning. When it comes to stuff like that, mother's intuition rules.
I hope everything turns out ok. It's so unbelievably scary when there's something wrong with your child and you don't know what it is.
