my 5 year old is drawing disturbing pictures, he told me a story when i told him to explain the pic. he said at night time it comes through the front door enters his and his bubbas room and gets in his brain. then one day while taking a bath, he looks over in his room and says their is that black face momma, right there. i said get out and point it to me, he did and as soon as he got to his doorway he looked in and around and he said huh?its gone. then he complains he has a t-rex in him that makes him mean.

What can I do next?

Interesting you didn't get any responses on this. I have never had this happen but if its true, why don't you let his doctor know and maybe he has some suggestions or you can take him to a child psychiatrist and see what they say. Good luck.

Yes I agree you need to call his pediatrician and see if he/she can refer you to a specialist or psychologist...

That is scary and I think, too imaginative for a 5 year old. Is he in school yet? If so, have you spoken to his teacher about whether he is acting out or saying anything in school? The comment about having a t-rex in him that makes him mean is also disturbing. I think you should definitely take him to see a professional about what is going through his mind.

A few months ago, my son woke up crying and he wouldn't let my husband or I come anywhere near him. I figured it was a night terror but nevertheless, I took some holy water and sprinkled it into every corner of his room. I ended up doing the whole house. He hasn't had a night terror since.

It's really great that you are listening to him though. I hope it gets figured out.

A friend of mine, several years ago, had a son that did this same thing. The Pediatrician recommended him to a Child Psychologist. The first thing that they told them was he was watching TV too much and that he was watching things that were way too old for his brain to filter reality and fiction. They began to limit his TV time and what he was watching and he didn't have these stories anymore.

If he's watched a scary movie, I would think that it's making him imagine things. Even some movie commercials are very scary, sort of like the one for the movie "Woman in Black." That commercial is really scary to our daughter. If I had any uneasy gut feeling that something was really wrong, I would immediately call the office of my pediatrician and ask for a consultation.

One of my brothers did this when he ran a fever a couple of times, and his doctor said he was hallucinating. But when he started talking this way when he wasn't sick my mother mentioned it to his pediatrician who referred him to a psychologist.
