Need help please, my son got a rash a couple days ago. Their tiny bumps that looks like acne but it covers his legs so much so that they feel extremely rough. There's a few on his arms and now he's getting them on the left side of his face. I don't know what to do...as long as it doesn't seem to bother him or unless he has trouble breathing I didn't wanna take him to his dr because its so expensive. Any ideas would be awesome!

What can I do next?

Please ignore the criticism for not taking your baby to the doctor. That's not fair. A couple of days and not other symptoms......

It wouldn't hurt to call a nurse at your pediatrician for advice. You can also do some checking online. Try this site and see if you can find your baby's rash.

Probably roseola. Very common in infants and completely harmless.

You could try calling and just asking if the office has any advice for you? Could be heat rash or an allergic reaction to something. If it keeps getting worse I think its worth the money for piece of mind to have him checked out.

i cannot believe you would let your son suffer just to save a few bucks!! when it comes to our childrens health we dont worry about what it might cost, doctors and hospitals will take the tiniest ammount for a monthly payment $5 or even $10 a month will suffice. Take him to the doctor, you have no clue what is wrong. dont be so selfish!

ETA: to Patty W.>>> it is parents who ignore their children's health and well being who end up burying their children. she has no clue what is wrong and to say that she refuses to take her child to the doctor over money, that is selfish!!! sorry if you dont want to hear the truth, but when it comes to the health of children no one should sugar coat things just to placate the mom into feeling okay about neglecting their child.

if they are white and look like little a pimple - it COULD be molluscum contagiosum - a virus in his body that there is really not much you can do for it - there is an ointment at GNC that you can put on it - I am sorry - I don't remember the name....but it is like a wart remover...

it could be ezcema (spelling) or psoriasis....you can try changing his diet one thing at a time over the course of at least two weeks - take one thing out for two weeks and see if it changes it, then another....

Any way - if it is molluscum contagiosum - it can take up to 16 months to get out of the system...

GOOD LUCK!!!

if he's red in his arm pits or elbow creases or if he runs a fever, then he needs to see a doctor because it is likely scarlet fever/strep...however, it sounds an awful lot like the way my oldest daughters keratosis pilaris started. http://www.helpforkp.com/
that website will offer pictures and advice on how to treat it if you think that's what it is. My daughter's when she was little (she's now 10 and we still both fight with this condition daily) it was her whole back, butt, thighs and cheeks that stayed broken out, aquafor and hydrocortizone was what we used on her face and CeraVe/Cetaphil bar/cleanser on her body and lotion after with hydrocortizone when it was flaring up badly...now that she's older (since about 3 years old) we used nutrogena body scrub twice a week too. Her thighs and face are the only two areas she still has any issues, mine is my thighs and butt.

Does he have a fever or a cough or anything like that? Does it seem to be bothering him or itching? It sounds like it could be eczema. Have you changed laundry or bath soaps, or added a new food? It couldn't hurt to call the Dr. tell them you can't afford to bring him in right now. Look up eczema on line and compare it to his rash or just google rash and compare it.

This is a good site with pictures of common childhood skin problems: http://children.webmd.com/slideshow-common-childhood-skin...

If he hasn't had a fever in the last few days, it's probably not roseola. Have you tried putting topical benadryl or lotrimin on it to see if it goes away? If it's not gone in another couple of days, I'd take him in. It could be an infection like impetigo or scabies, and both are pretty contagious and require a doctor's prescription for antibiotics.

it they aren't bothering him?

sounds like mosculom (spelling) and will go away on their own...you can talk to the dr - there is a medicine that they can use to "burn" it off like a wart - but it doesn't make the virus go away....

could be psoriasis - when you take him in for his next well child check up - you can have it looked at then....if you are really concerned, make an appointment before then...

Could be a reaction to food (even if it's not a new food). My now three year old has a sensitivity to berries, but the rash will only pop up when her immune system is low. And for her, warm water makes the rash worse (it always flares after a bath). If you haven't yet seen a picture of a rash like your son's, try to google 'food allergy rash' and compare. Good luck Mama! Hope your little one is better soon.
