J.K.
My Pediatrician said that i should start giving her 1/2 milk and half formula at 10months. she should be fine.
Ok I know if she drinks a little bit of cows milk she would be ok, but what about a large amount. How much would this really effect her. I don't give her regular milk a all.
Just formula.
She just burped alot.
I know only a doctor can really tell me, just would like some opinions.
Thank you everyone for your comments, I know I waited till my son was 11 or 12 months to start giving him milk and he was fine.
My stomach does not do well with milk so I was worried about the amount she drank.
I cannot remember where I read it but it basically stated not to give babies milk because some babies have a hard time processing it and sometimes it can result in stomach bleeds, somthing about the enzyme in cows milk.
But anyhow after she drank it she had alot of gas and was burping all night and puked up a few times, not the regular spit up she somtimes does just really ugly puke.
So I am now pretty sure she drank a very large amount.
The only thing I could not remember is what age to start kids on milk...seems to be 10 month from what everyone has mentioned.
She already eats alot of foods now anyhow.
Well thanks again all.

As long as she has no allergies to dairy then it is just fine. In two months she will be drinking milk with her meals anyway. I think it is great, she must have liked it!! :)
My son started drinking cow's milk at 10 months old. Our pediatrician told us that if he was breastfed up until that point that it was okay to introduce it. I don't think that there should be any problem with her drinking it. I know we all had cow's milk before we were a year old at my house growing up and none of us have allergies or had any negative effects from it. I wouldn't be too concerned, but it never hurts to call the doctor.
Don't sweat it! At nine months my oldest son arched his back and refused to drink his bottle of formula. This continued for two days. I was freaking out so I tried to give him a sippy cup filled with milk. He loved it and never went back. The doc was not thrilled about this but in all my research I found that babies can be switched at 9 months to a year to whole milk. So in order to make myself and the doc feel better, I would put two scoops of formula in his white milk. He did not seem to mind and he kept getting all the vitamins and minerals that the doc wanted him to have until he was a year old. At a year when I quit adding formula, I put him on vitamins. You can find a liquid vitamin at any drug store, I think it is by Sobe.
formula has the same ingredients as milk . it just has added calories and vitamins that regular milk doesnt have. babies are given formula for the first year or so becuse they need the extra calories for brain development etc. also formula fed babies probably arent fed as ofen as breast babies. breast milk also has a lot of fat. so i dont see any probelm with ehr having milk as long as she still has formula and she doesnt show signs of allergies.. it should be about time soon that you start her on cows milk anyway. andd... what do you think babies had before there was formula? and those people turned out just fine
I don't think that your daughter should have any problems. I started mixing formula and milk in my children's sippy cups when they were about 10 months and by the time they were 1 year they were completely on milk.
unless she is allergic to milk it shouldn't have any long term effects. My husband was given canned milk from 6 mo. on and he never gets sick, has really strong teeth and is healthy as an ox.

My daughter is pretty much strictly breastfed, but I tried to give her formula at 10 months and she refused. My pediatrician said she was old enough that I could introduce a tiny bit of cow milk along with continuing to breastfeed. It's not going to hurt her. If she is drinking a cows milk based formula then you shouldn't be worried really about it upsetting her tummy or anything. If she's on a cows milk formula it would be really unlikely for her to have an allergy to the cows milk.

My daughter never took formula and I wanted to stop breastfeeding her. She had whole milk at 10 months and she turned out okay. I am not sure what really would be a problem unless she gets an allergy from it, but you should know by now if she did. no worries.
I think if she did not have a reaction she will be fine,
I was transitioning a little at this age with my son.
And at age 1 the formula is gone and whole milk is recomended.
It a nutritional thing also , pediatricians want the most nutrition for your child so they usually are not great eatters so the get formula.
I would not worry about it. A little each day would be fine at this age.

I have been a mom it seems like forever. The milk won't hurt her unless she exhibits signs of lactose intolerance. If the worst thing she did was burp you are quite lucky. When transferring my children from formula to milk, I did so by beginning to split their formula with whole milk at the 10 month stage. This was to create a tolerance for the whole milk so when I weined them completely off the bottle at 12 months and they were totally on whole milk, the transition was smooth and without adverse affects.
I also work in the health care industry and have been commended by my children's pediatricians for my process.
Hope this helps.
