I'm looking for a great voice instructor on the Eastside for myself. I am working on songs for music theater auditions. I'm not a beginner, but certainly not professional. I need someone who is experienced with stage singing.

What can I do next?

My daughter sings with a voice teacher in Seattle. She used to sing opera in Germany and works with the Seattle Girls Choir and there are several that come from Bellevue and Mercer Island. When you meet her she is very different not what you would expect but excelent none the less. Her name is Lois White. She also taught at Arizona State. My daughter is 17 and looking into music theater for college. She adores Lois.

Kerstin O'shields is a voice coach for lots of kids in the Kent area. Her students always go to State and win. She has had leading roles with the Tacoma Opera. She really, really knows her stuff. It would be worth the drive to Kent...if she has the time. She is in her mid 30's and lots of fun too!

E.:

I can highly recommend Dennis Kruse in Woodinville. (just off the exit from a freeway.-or just off Front St. in Issaquah.
He has been working with my husband, who has Alzheimers, and many teachers wouldn't want to spend the time with, but Dennis has been perfect, and individualized everything for my hubby.
However, he has the professional chops and connections that I bet you are looking for.
I have been very impressed, and he has tons of excellent references.
Check him out.
I am reading from his card:
Evolutions, a voice studio. Dennis Kruse
Studios in Woodinville and Issaquah.
Phone: Information ###-###-####
Woodinville: ###-###-#### cell: ###-###-####.

So- another good lead.

Cheers,
V. Day Redmond- (my thing is a parent support group for parents of acting out teens or young adults..)

Hi E.-
Your musical goals sound great! I teach voice technique and help students prepare for auditions, and am located in Sammamish. My background is in vocal jazz performance, but I help students with all styles. Let me know if you're interested (no shameless plugs allowed :-).
