My son goes to Olive Mary-Stitt in Arlington Heights and we are very happy with the school. It is District 25. The schools in Barrington are also very good. We love living in Arl. Hts. and highly recommend it for raising a family. Good luck.
We are moving to IL by end of dec and I am in search of good elementary schools in Barrington/Arlington Heights/Schaumburg areas. My husband is going to be working in Barrington and we want to live in an area which has good public elementary schools. Among these areas which has good residential areas/good apartments? Can anyone suggest name of any good apartments? My son is academically gifted and has been in a self contained gifted program since Pre-K. I want him to join a challenging program. Which of these areas has good gifted/magnet program? Please, any help is appreciated. We are not able to decide on an apartment without knowing abt the schools.
Thank you very much all of you... I am still deciding on it. But i cannot thank you all enough for helping me with your suggestions..

Hi M.~
This site will give you a lot of reviews on schools. I have it copied on Barrington, but you can change your town search easily.

I am very happy with the public school that my kids attend in Arlington Hts. They don't have a self contained gift room, though. My twins are pulled out for 40 minutes a day and go to TDP (Talent and Development Program). (There are about 10 kids from 4th grade who go and are challenged with various lessons.) However, even in their regular classrooms, their teachers do a great job modifying their lessons to meet their needs. I think the PTO is GREAT and the staff is wonderful. The principal is so compassionate and you can tell he loves his job. (pm me if you want the name of my kids school) I LOVE the neighborhood that I am in and they do have busses for the kids who live in apartments nearby. (There are enough in the area for you to be selective in your search for an apartment.)
All three towns that you listed overall, have a good or great reputation for their school districts.
These are all very good communities. I like Arlington Heights myself and my nephew has gone to school there. The family moved away and moved back to the same area after staying in a beautiful area south! They must have been very happy.Apartments I cannot help you with. Just google apartments there and there will be many places waiting to hear from you. Enjoy! I love living in Illinois, grew up here and if this housing market wasn't so bad I probably would move there. As it is we are probably destined to live in our home for many more years. That's okay, home is where my heart is. But that of course is not what you were asking about.
The Barrington school district generally has great schools. It is a fairly large district also. There is one (Sunny Hill) in a more economically depressed area which has a fair number of challenges which I would stay away from. Hough St. school is the grade school for the extremely gifted kids, although all of the schools have 'extended' programs. There are many great residential areas in Barrington, but there are not any large apartment complexes that I am aware of. But there are a few smaller ones. We live and work in the Barrington area and love it. Good luck!
I would also highly recommend school district 54, which serves Schaumburg and parts of Elk Grove and Hanover Park. Here is a link to the state report cards for each school in the district http://sd54.org/schoolreportcards/
Here is info on their gifted and magnet (super gifted) program. http://sd54.org/gifted/
The magnet progam is now housed at Campanelli (used to be Dooley), and is outstanding.
I don't have information about apartments for you.
Good luck, and welcome to Illinois!
I, too, would recommend District 54 in Schaumburg and the surrounding communities. I live in Schaumburg, and like Arlington Heights and such, it's a great place to raise a family. What is nice about District 54 (largest elementary school district in the state, with 27, I believe, schools) is that they offer a variety of choices. One school is a montessori-type environment, several are multi-age, one is dual language Japanese/English, one has a Math & Science Academy, one is dual language Chinese/English, several are dual language Spanish/English, one is Suzuki-music program oriented and so on. You probably can't go wrong with any of those areas you mentioned.
I would highly recommend living in Schaumburg or Elk grove village - in District 54. They have an excellent magnet program - self contained school at Dooley in Schaumburg. You would need to reside in Schaumburg township.
Not sure about great apartments - but contact my realtor - Terry Zybko-Peglow at ____@____.com - she can give you great advice on places to live.
