Hi J.!

We moved to the Orlando area two years ago -- orginally we are from New York. We leased a home in Oviedo (a suburb of Orlando); and now we are leasing a home in Winter Park. The Winter Park/Maitland area is an extremely family-friendly area to live in.

We are right next to the town line between Winter Park/Maitland. The schools are quite good. I've been a public school teacher in other states; you have to be aware of the school districts -- just because it is a nice-looking neighborhood, doesn't mean you child will be assigned to a quality public school district.

I would strongly recommend leasing a home with the housing market the way it is, but it all depends on what your personal circumstances are.

I did find an amazing realtor (by the way, we've learned that everyone knows someone or is a realtor in Florida). Her name is Brenda Cole and she is by far -- one of the most honest, ethical realtors I've found - and we've gone through three realtors. She knows we won't buy a home for one (maybe even two more years) & she's still so helpful finding new neighborhoods for me to look at. Also, she is not the "quick sale" type at all. In case, you would like to rent (lease) a nice home or buy, she could do it all.

Also, I'm in an International MOMs Club that covers Winter Park & Maitland. About 40 moms are members, and it is a great way to get to know lots of different moms & information about the local area and such.

Good luck on your move!

Any info. you'd like to know, I'll help you.

Maitland is a wonderful area! You will love it. Great schools and people live there. There are nice parks and it is close to Winter Park and downtown Orlando. There is good shopping nearby. Maitland is very progressive yet small and charming. It is a wonderful place to raise a family.

Maitland is awesome! I live in Winter Park which is right next door. Maitland has beautiful established neighborhoods and parks, good schools and low crime. It is also relatively close to downtown Orlando. It's really one of the more desirable areas to live around here.
Eatonville is it's own town, but yes is right next to Maitland. If you stay within Maitland city limits or East you will be fine.

Hello or Hola!

Maitland to be very honest with you it is hit or miss! It's a great area but they say to stay away from "Eatonville". Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Maitland is a great neighborhood, kind of in the middle of everything. Close to but not too close to attractions, about 30 min away. Close to I-4, which is how a lot of us get around. We have lots of mommy groups and resale shops, although not necessarily in Maitland. My best resale shop is in Longwood, about 10 min away. There are some good schools for later or lots of people homeschool here. Lots of choices!
You can write and ask whatever you need to know, I've been here for 35 years.

Maitland is a great little city!! I hav lived in central florida all my life and know it well! Maitland is one of teh more "middle/upper class" areas. It is far nough from down town but close enouogh to I 4 to hope on and get to downtown or the attrctions when needed/wanted.
Very good public and privte schools. a multi cultural area and th surrounding towns ie..Winter Park (very artsy) Winter Springs and Oveido are great little near by towns also. I live in Winter Springs. There are lots of parks in Maitland and I think you will find it a nice community. Hope that helps! D.
