I am just wondering if anyone has trouble with terrible moods swings with pms? I seem to be the worst like a day before my period. Is there something you know about to control them better?

YES.YES YES. Magesium. try magnesium malate or magnesium citrate. Both can cause loose stool so cut back a bit until you are comfortable. There is also magnesium oil (magnesium chloride)you can rub on the skin. You can do both at the same time. Any of these products can be found online.

I like to always add vitamin b liquid drops under the tounge as well. And extra water- since the nervous system runs on hydroelectricity.

YES!

I take:
1) Hyland's Calms Forte- for adults.

2) "Natural Calm" http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Calm-Rasp-Lemon-po... (this is the best brand and easiest to take, like a warm tea... you an also find it at Whole Foods etc. Tastes great. Magnesium is water soluable, and helps the absorption of calcium, which is important in women.

You can find both at Whole Foods or any natural food store.
I get moody about 1 week before my period. NO fun.

This works for me.

all the best,
Susan

Exercise, even if you don't feel like it. Time alone, if you can get it. More protein, less carbs, even though you crave carbs. Ice cream and hot fudge...

It sounds to me like your progesterone is low. I went and got mine tested and I have hardly any. I take a progesterone tablet every night before I go to bed. I had this problem for many years before I went to a doctor that specialized in bio-identical hormones and ran a complete blood screen on me. I can also tell a difference in my moods when I do yoga to center and relax my mind.

Wow - thanks for your post. I had decided last night that I was going to post the same question this morning. Right around my period EVERYTHING ticks me off. Don't let my husband get up to get a beer. That REALLY irritates me. Or better yet, how dare he walk up the stairs humming a happy tune. Waiting to hear some of the responses right along with you : )

:) I actually have noticed this ALOT the past couple of months- I never have thought about it before- but my new hubby will ask when I am most crabby- what day are we on?? (28 day cycle) It has made me more aware. Mostly being aware-for me- is half the battle. I try to keep my distance and not allow myself to be in a situation that will perpetuate the mood. My sisters Dr told her to try one of the over the counter meds- pamprin I think- but this is her first month to try it- so we have no answers yet

Hi T.
Not sure if you're wanting to use supplements.
If yes- I work with a nutritional company that has something just for that-- one gal tells how here's was so bad that she kicked her hubby out every month. She stopped taking them a few years later and it came back and he told her he'd leave if she didn't stay on them-- HA.
Anyway.
If you want more info, feel free to email me at ____@____.com
Put momsource in the subject line so I make the connection.
I do wellness coaching part time around family and my medical career.
Drink a lot of water too-- the more you drink, the less you store-- paradoxical.

Have a great mood-free day!

About me: married 49 yo mom of 8 yo twin girls, perfusionist, & PT wellness coach also doing a nationwide biggest loser online for $$.

I haven't read the other posts but I know w/myself if I eat healthy and really limit my simple carbs (bread, crackers, pasta, rice, cookies, etc.) I notice I sail thru my period w/ out so much as a swing either way. It's night and day when I eat that stuff vs. when i don't eat it.

You may want to view this link: http://www.ejfi.org/family/family-72.htm
Also consider discussing this with your ObGyn or G.P. If that does not help would also consider or now an Endocrinologist, they specialize in hormonal changes and imbalances which can change emotions and health in a myriad of ways. Best of luck!
