Mamas & Papas-

Dabbled with doing trains or pigeons for DS's 2nd birthday, but I am now set on Monkeys. He is a little monkey after all, climbing, laughing, swinging, giggling and getting into all kinds of mischief. We expect about a dozen kids and as many adults for a Sunday afternoon party in our home.

Any tips for party games and activities, party food, cake/cupcake ideas would be appreciated.
Thinking of playing "monkey see, monkey do," having a no hands banana eating contest, a game of monkey in the middle, pin the tail on the monkey, and a monkey pinata. I've ordered these "design your own monkey" dolls and fabric markers from oriental trading company, together with some oversized inflatable monkeys, and monkey suckers. The balloons will double as decor and favors.

Any other clever suggestions?
Food ideas would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance.
F. B.

My sister did a monkey theme for her youngest's 2nd bday too :) She had make your own banana splits for dessert with a centerpiece of chocolate covered bananas.

I had a monkey party for my little one when he turned 4. I had monkey cupcakes, which you can see here...

And it is tradition that he gets a banana cake for his special cake, which you can see here...

He is our monkey still, and I loved this theme. We had it at the local zoo, and had an animal craft for them to do also.

only time for a quick response. I did this for my little girl's 2rd birthday. See hostess with the mostess blog which inspired me. I did the decor in jungle colors of brown, green. and yellow. And i decorated with bananas everywhere. They are cheap and went in the favor bags :)

My daughter was older, about 4 when we had a fall party in our yard and we had an entertainer with a real monkey that played with the children. It was fun, even the adults enjoyed watching the monkey be a monkey!
