Hi all. I have had four c-sections. My youngest son (8-2004) and my baby girl (7-05) are 11 months apart. I got pregnant with her when my son was barely 3 months old. Anyone here who have had over the standard norm of three c-sections? Anyone ever had a prematurely aged placenta? My daughter was born at 33 weeks. She was the first preemie I had. She is doing great, almost 14 months old and still not walking although she is standing on her own without support. SHe acts like she is too scared to take a step. When I ask her to walk to me, she just falls forward---I catch her of course!! lol

What can I do next?

Both my kids were preemies. The first decided to come out 8 weeks early and he weighed 6 lbs!! The doctor said he would have been HUGE if I lasted full term. They told me he came early because I was over active. He started walking at 9 months!! My second-11 years later-they took 5 weeks early because I had placenta previa. He didn't really start walking until 17 months. Both kids really learned to walk by chasing ducks!! They wanted to get to catch them so bad they just took off after them. My youngest is three now and he is in the 20% but has scored way above on IQ. Don't woory she will be up and going before you know it and then you'll be chasing after 4 kids!!

I did not have a C-sec or a premie BUT my daughter was born (( will be 9 next week - 1997)) but was born resp. compromised with merconium ((baby's 1st bowel movement)). She spent just under a month in a NICU with many issues. I had birth to 3 come to my house upon recommendation of the hosp & was told many MANY times to consider her date home from the NICU as more of her "birthday" then the day she was born as she started her development once in my ____@____.com instance, she would and did roll later then most babies... She had issues with crawling but with overcame them. Was told she could have all sorts of "milestone" probs. She is well to this date except for a seizure disorder which she is on meds for...

About me::
A single mother of 4 ((15 - 1991; 10 - 1996, 9 - 1997 & 6 - 2000) @ end stages of divorce dealing with many issues of motherhood plus re~entering job field. My children are my life and each day I strive to better their well~being!!!

Note:
I hope my advice will be of some assist.

Hi E.,
my son was five weeks early and he was by csection.he was 10 pounds. he was doing great until i notice he didnt start walking until he was like 16 months. he's 2 1/2 now and really doesnt talk much. i heard that premature babies are a little slower at their milestones. so i read in this months issue of parent mag. that you have early intervention come to your home and they will test them to see if there's any delays, and if they are 25% delayed they come to your home and work with the child. so they will be coming to myhome next week and test him. it was great advice.
let me know how everything goes

Hi. I'm new to the group and was reading some of these older posts (sorry if it's too late!) Anyway, i had two c-secions (my kids are 25 months apart... planned!) The first one (my son) i was in hard labor for OVER 24 hours (back labor too.. ouch!!!) no drugs, no epidural, etc... then after all that time they finally took him csection (i was soo mad after all that time!) he was "sunny-side up" and i wasn't progressing (not dialiating fast enough) and he wasn't coming down, etc... anyway he was 4 days early and 10 pounds at birth and he didn't walk until he was 15 months old! Since he was 7 months he would pull himself up and walk along furniture and when you held his hands but wouldn't do it himself... we always thought since he was so big he couldn't carry all that weight (haha) but i seen him at around 8-9 months try to take a step on his own and he fell flat on his face (hitting a big floor toy on the way down) and busted his lip and he never tried again! so we think he was just scared to go on his own (and was great walking along stuff and very mobile just not alone!) then one day he just got up and walked clear across the room!! but he was a very very very early and excellent talker (and still is) and excelled in a lot of different areas so we didnt' worry... we always said to people (when they were shocked he didn't walk on his own yet) that he was too busy excelling in other areas to worry about walking! My second baby, my daughter, born 25 months after my son, she was a planned csection because the new policy at the hanover hospital (which went into effect a year after my son was born) is once a csection always a csection (and i was planning on going natural!!) so i had no choice... my section was scheduled two weeks before my due date (and she was still over 9 pounds!!!) so i was to deliver her at 7am that morning and went into labor overnight!! good thing i was going in that morning! but still felt the very nice and comforting (laughing) pains of labor! she is now 9... almost 10 months old and she is already trying to walk herself and is so much more moblie than my son was (and so different!) so i wouldn't worry about her not walking on her own yet... my friend's baby didn't start walking until he was 18 months so... as long as she's mobile and standing on her own i wouldn't worry too much! SORRY for the long post!

I have had two c-sections. The first was not planned, after being in induced labor for 2 days and I was already 2 weeks overdue it didn't look like she was going to come out. With my son I waited and was induced again when he was overdue but I couldn't wait the two days again, I gave up after 8 hours. Now they say I can only have c-sections, not give birth naturally.

I have had three c-sections and am now pregnant with my fourth baby who will also be born via c-section. I have three sons and this one is a baby girl.

My first c-section was also unplanned. I was two weeks overdue, they induced for two days and it just wasn't happening. So, they went ahead with the c-section. Each of my births since then has been a planned c-section.

I have never had any problems with my placenta and I've never had a preemie. The only concern is that, during my last two c-sections, my doctor commented that my uterus was extremely thin. So, that's something we're going to have to keep an eye on this time so that I don't have a uterine abruption. I did ask him both times if the thin uterus meant I shouldn't have anymore children and he said no. He said that it may just be normal for me and doesn't necessarily mean I'm in any danger (but of course we'll keep watching it just in case). He said every woman is different. He's has a woman whose had 12 c-sections and she's just fine. On the other hand, he's had women who've only had 2 and can't have anymore. You just never know, I guess.

Being only 14 months old, your daughter is still within the normal range for taking those first steps - even if she were full term. I wouldn't worry a bit. Before you know it, she'll be running around so fast you won't be able to catch her! :)

I have 2 boys both born by c-section and they were both late walkers. If you are really worried about it you can call 275-kids and explain your situation. They will tell you if you have anything to be concerned about. If they feel you need it they will set up for someone to come to your home or you can go to their office and they'll do a physical therapy evaluation. If you qualify for help it won't cost you anything and they'll work with her once or twice a week to catch her up to the other kids. Both my sons have services and it has done a world of good for them. They can also help if you have any concerns about her speech development.

Hi E.,
I just want to tell you not to worry about your preemie.
My son was born at 29 weeks and he couldn't walk until he was 19 months.
So, don't worry too much unless her pediatrician says there is something to worry about.

Take care,
