OK I know that it took 9 months to gain all that baby weight but now that he is here, I thought by now I would have lost some thing. Well, to my surprise that didn't happen. I haven't been eating great because of all the holiday gatherings so you can imagine I have added another 10 LBS to the scale. What are some helpful tips to shedding the pounds on a tight schedule? I have some time around 8:30-9:30 but not enough to devote 45+ minute work out time to. Any great dieting plans would also be helpful. My husband is a carnivore and I never get the chance to eat healthy or else I would have to take the time out to prepare 2 meals instead of one. So simple and easy is what I am looking for.

What can I do next?

4 months ago i weighed 251lbs, i now am down to 179lbs. I started going to Glory Medical. Their weight loss program is amazing & affordable! I am soooooo glad i am doing this & would reccomend it to everyone. The only exercise i do is 20mins of walking a dday & sometimes not even that. The web site has a lot of info & if you call, the staff is very helpful. Glorymedicalcenter.com. ###-###-####. Good luck! I was hopeless & Glory changed my life!!! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Have you tried the Adkins diet? If your family eats a lot of meat, that would probably be a good choice. You can also just cut back your meals. I am in the process of losing my baby weight as well (my son is 9 months old) and so far I have lost 80 pounds - I still have 60 to go. I gained WAY TOO MUCH while I was pregnant. Anyway, what I do is use small plates (like salad plates) for my meals and I put my fork down after each bite. I fully eat a bite and then pick up my fork. This allows me to feel when I am full and not over eat. Also, drink lots of water. I went to walmart and got a gallon container to fill with water and that is what I drink during the day. I make it a goal to drink the whole thing before bed. I allow myself one 20oz diet soda or 'no caffiene' soda a day. I also don't hinder myself by saying "I can't eat that". I eat whatever I am hungry for, just in smaller amounts. Steak, chicken, and fish are probably the best things for you to eat - as well as eggs. I have noticed that when I eat meats and salads, I lose weight quicker. If you don't think you can do it alone, you can talk to your doctor and tell them that you feel you need help losing a little weight and they can prescribe appetite surpressers. I would suggest doing that as a LAST option.

I hope this helps.

Hi T.! I know exactly how you feel...I had a really difficult time getting back into shape after having my son. There are a few things that really helped me get started: first, if you don't already have one, buy a jogging stroller! They are great and you can purchase a gently used one at a consignment store. I still use it with my 19 month old, and when you are busy and don't have a lot of "you" time, it works. Cardio is the best way to shed the lbs. As far as diets go, one of my BF's is a personal trainer and what I'd consider to be a fitness expert. She told me to limit my starchy-carb intake to one item a day. Therefore, I would try a daily meal plan such as whole wheat toast with reduced fat PB for breakfast, a salad (chef, or anything else with protein) for lunch, and meat and veggies for dinner. There are a lot of things you can cook that you and your husband will eat. If you like fish, it's really easy to prepare great fish in the oven. Regardless, the one-carb-a-day thing really helped me get started. Now, I am honestly in the best shape (and lowest weight) since I have been in HS! :) So, trust me, it works. Best of luck with everything...including your treatment at Moffitt. I work in HR there, and I think it is a wonderful place...you are in good hands.

Only 4 months! Give yourself some time! Only celebraties loose weight that fast and that is by surgery and personal trainers and nannies! I still have some weight on me after almost 2 years, but I also haven't tried to loose it until recently. The easiest I have found is to ignore any specific "diets". It doesn't matter that your husband is a carnivore, you can eat that stuff too. I have been loosing weight for awhile now and all I do is cut down my serving sizes. I don't watch what I eat, but how much i eat. Eat 3 smaller meals a day and snack on healthy things. I will sit down with my son and eat apples, grapes or yogurt with him. I fix the same dinners I always have, I just eat a lot less. Eating at home REALLY helps because you avoid the massive meals restaurants give you. after dinner, I try not to eat anything the rest of the night. If I do, it is glass of milk, cereal or yogurt. I go for walks as often as I can after work, but other than that, I don't get to exercise much. Just controlling my intake is all it is taking for me. Good luck and give yourself more time.

My son just turned a year and I'm just now able to fit into some pre-pregnancy clothes. I don't have any time for exercise, but eating healthier has really helped. My crock pot has been the ultimate life saver and you can plan meals ahead and make something healthy before you even leave for work! Cutting out sodas and pre-processed/packaged foods really helps. I'm lucky to be a SAHM and can make everything from scratch which cuts out a lot of the sugar/salt and additives. Anyone can do it, though, you just have to make the initial investment of time to learn how.

Take the time you have in the morning to cut up and prepare some quick healthy snacks, like fruit salad, or even some veggies and dip. Measure out serving of dry cereal or anything you like so you can just grab that and not have to wory about making something for you, while trying to prepare a bottle and fed your baby. Also, if your husband isn't too picky about the way his meals are prepared cut back on the higher fat stuff - bake instead of fry, use olive oil instead of vegetable oil. You can also try looking online for lower fat recipes for just about anything from appetizers to desserts. Also, and again this applies to whether or not your husband is a picky eater, weight watchers worked for me, I did the points. Only thing with that one is you have to measure, measure, measure. But they also have cook books with easy to follow recipes that don't require exotic ingredients. You might also consider seeing a nutritionist for other ideas.

First thing I suggest is give yourself a break honey! The baby is only 4 months old, it's winter, holiday season with all the trimmings, and you have cancer. Your plate seems to be full enough without worrying so much about your weight. When it gets warm out, take the baby for a walk. But try to keep the goal of just getting out and getting fresh air in mind instead of those pounds. You will lose weight eventually. Enjoy your child and your carnivorous husband!
For a meal idea, fajitas are a good option. They really don't add that many calories and you get the veggies. Plus the husband should eat it. Start out by buying leaner cuts of meats and fish. And ALWAYS pair your dinner meat with some vegetable. Preferrably one that hasn't been cooked with bacon grease. You can add some fruit or berries to your morning cereal.
Good luck and just focus on the Now!

Hi T..

1st-congratulations. I am the mother of an 8 1/2 month old little girl. I too battled the weight thing. I had always been thin w/out working at it. I gained 50lbs w/ Justine and it did not fall off:) I finally got to the point where I couldn't stand it any longer. I went back to work when she was 3mths old-so I understand not having time. I also decided to do something for myself. I always seem to put everyone else's needs before mine-so, I got a membership to a gym and went in at 6:30am 3-4 days a week. I started to feel better about myself and the weight started coming off. It gave me more energy! My husband is also a big eater. I got on-line and got recipes off foodnetwork.com and searched the internet for healthy ideas. Please remember to be easy on yourself! You are a brand-new mom and it is all too much at times! You can do it!!!
