HI! My daughter has an imac. However, it isn't working and I want to get it fixed. I have not had positive experiences with the local business that is known for working on macs. Does anyone know of an affordable, reputable, person/business that deals with i macs in the San Jose, CA area?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses. I think I will give Liz O'Brien a call. I am so tech challenged, that I need one person that I talk to rather than going to a store where I would end up dealing with multiple people. Again, thanks for the responses!

First off, have you talked to the "Genius Bar" at an Apple store? If it is an easy fix, they can help you there on the spot. If the iMac needs to be worked on I would recommend ClickAway in Campbell. I have also heard of 1-800-wefixmacs. I do NOT recommend the repair place up on Stevens Creek. We took our PowerBook there and did not get a good feeling about them, and have since heard bad things about their reputation. Good luck!

Can you tell us what the iMac is doing (or not doing)? Have you gone through any troubleshooting yourself. Macs are pretty straightforward and there is a lot you can do yourself to get it up and running again. Also, is it still under any warranty? If you've gone through all this then finding someone by referral is the best thing. But maybe it is something that one of us could help you with.

Why don't you go to the Apple Store @ Valley Fair or Oakridge. Also if you can describe the issue you can Google it. I've found a lot of help online.

Hi T.,
I would go to the Apple Store at Valley Fair. You could call them to ask questions to see whether you need to bring it in, or can get info online to do the fix.
Hardware fixes/problems are very different than software.
Good luck!
