I don't know many people in the area and was looking for a support group, activity group, etc. Just something to do in my spare time or with my child when he's born. I get fairly lonely and would like to interact with others more often... Thank you!

What can I do next?

I lie in the Sanford area, but I recomend going online to www.momsclub.org I recently started attending the Sanford Moms Club and intend to join at the next event I attend there are different moms from different backgrounds, and with different age children so it's good for my daughter (11mths) too. But they stress that it is a support group for moms and the kids are just able to come along. It's pretty resonable too!

Hi there! Rachel (a fellow mother from this website) emailed me this site not to long ago....

It looks very educational & interesting and I plan on starting tomorrow with my 15 month old son. I know that you are not due until September but I believe you can start this as soon as you are ready once your child is born. If you are interested, feel free to email me at ____@____.com and I'll let ya know how the class is going.

From your other response, I to have heard that attending the classes at the hospitals are a good way to meet people and educational as well.

good luck-
J.

Arnold Palmer Hosp has several great support groups for moms starting from week 1. Most are free and you dont have to deliver there to take advantage of them. I really enjoyed the Mommy & Me Tea on Mon afternoons and Fri mornings. Call 321-the baby for more info. This group centers around breastfeeding moms of newborns 0-8weeks. You don't have to breastfeed to go but it is an outlet to get some (free) coaching on breastfeeding. If you don't breastfeed, its still great to go and learn about how your baby is developing and get questions like "is this normal??" answered. Its very casual and unstructured. All the other moms there will be just as sleep deprived and frustrated as you are. Besides, its nice just to get out of the house those first few weeks!

Also, Ive noticed you have posted several things on mamasource. I dont know how much of a response you have been getting but there are several websites out there that can answer your questions from other moms. Try fertilityfriend.com or pregnancy.org. I really enjoy posting my questions on these boards and getting responses from other moms who have been there and done that. Pregnancy.org is free but I think FertilityFriend has a charge to use the boards.

I hope this helps!

There are many mommy groups in the area too. Depending on your location and county. I would go to www.yahoo.com and do a group search, east orlando moms and seminole moms are 2 groups I know of for sure. You can join now (both are free) and post to the message boards. Good luck. Jen

Hi and Congrats
If you live in the winter park area, Florida Hospital has a great group called Baby Bunch, it's specially dedicated to new moms for their first year of motherhood,,they meet every Friday (if they haven't changed the day of meeting) they have great speakers with points of interest from lactation to car seat safety and much more - lunch is provided I believe for a small fee like $5.00. What's great is you get to be with other moms during or close to the same age as your child and you can learn from the question and answer period of the meetings..bonus they welcome breastfeeding mothers.

I am a part of a great MOPS group (mothers of preschoolers) that meet at Faith Assembly on Goldenrod Rd. They are still doing playdates throughout the summer and they begin the official meetings real soon. There you will meet other moms in the area, hear an inspiring message, and do a craft at each meeting! You will be encouraged in your new proffession of Motherhood and it is so much fun! If you are interested call Bethany at ###-###-####. She is the play group coodinator and will let you know when + where the next one will be.
