our church's youth group news also gets posted on Facebook. There's a link to the group Facebook page on the church web site also
Our church is really ramping up youth activities for our community in the coming year - thanks so much to all you mamas who shared GREAT ideas with me!
Now we need to make our church activity info/reminders available to everyone, members and non-members. Obviously the answer is via mobile devices.
Does anyone have any recommendations or examples of superior church/youth mobile sites or apps that make it easy for people to access key info? Feel free to share sites. Email is not our best option with the youth because many of those we are trying to reach are not on our email lists.
Thank you!

Our church has just started using The Table. It's a free application that kind of works like Facebook. Our church still uses Facebook, but we use The Table for church-wide communication (like announcements, invitations, small groups, request for help, etc.) that isn't necessarily what we want on our website for the world. Does that make sense? You can create groups (small groups, women's groups, etc.) that are hidden or open. It's pretty cool. There is even a place for wants/needs/swaps (like baby clothes, snow shoveling, etc.). Pretty neat! Check it out! http://tableproject.org/
I know the youth pastor of our church is on Facebook. He announces all activities via his Facebook page, and posts pics etc, so that the kids (and parents alike) know what is going on. It seems almost all kids age 14 and over have a Facebook account these days.T hen when a new kids comes out, they can "friend" the youth leaders and other people will be able to see the announcements as well. This might be a great resource.
I'm not thrilled with face book, but most teens do have a face book page. Our girl scout troop has their own face book page that is only for members and parents. It's a great tool.
Facebook, definitely! Your youth pastor can create a page from his own personal one and send info out quite easily.
