Hello LS-
When I was a Nanny, I would add liquid dish detergent to the paints. It did not harm the paint and it washed off the child & cloths easily.

My 3-year-old dearly loves to watch Bob Ross on PBS. He wants so badly to be able to mix paints before he puts them on the paper so he can be like Bob Ross and watercolors just aren't cutting it for him! Does anyone know if they make mixable, yet truly washable paints? I saw one review for some Crayola mixable paints, but the person said they stained the skin and wouldn't come out. I am interested in hearing from moms who have had any experience with these type of paints and can give me a good recommendation. Thanks moms!
p.s. We have the Crayola finger paints, but I find the colors so ugly once they are on the paper! They seem very dull to me. Also, since they are gel-like when they come out and look nothing like what ends up on the paper, they really don't fit the bill of what I'm looking for. I'd like something that looks like real paint and looks like a different color once you mix them in a cup or on a palette. Thanks to those who have responded so far!

my son uses the crayola washable finger paints (which would totally be mixable if you put them on a paper plate or palette) and they come out of clothing just fine. a quick wash with soap and water gets them off skin too.
I second Rebecca's recommendation. I used dish soap in both tempra and acrylic paints when I was a preschool teacher. Worked like a charm every time!
I just bought some Crayola paint today and it came off the skin beautifully and would mix well on a paper plate.
I agree - Crayola finger paints are not very satisfying. I use washable tempera - I buy red, yellow, blue, white and black and let my kids mix the other colors.

hi mom how are you to answer these stores might just have what you are looking for try the following likes walmart target or kmart they might have the kind of paint you is looking for for your 3 years old and good luck with that hope you find what you are looking for once again good luck.
Tempura paint should come right off the clothes and skin. It is what we use at the school to make posters. I am sure adding dish detergent is wonderful - I never thought of that! Good luck!
At my daughters school they add dish soap to the paint so that it washes out. So far I haven't had any issues with the paint not washing out on hands and clothing.
