I would go with sending them out knowing they will be late. Lets face it if they blame anyone it will be the post office. :)
OK. Never got to the photo cards this year. As of 2 days ago I was frantically looking through my files for the "right" picture to use...as of today--nada.
It's quickly becoming a moot point.
I bought Christmas cards that I can quickly do up.
Or should I forge on and attempt to actually execute the photo cards, knowing they will most likely arrive after Christmas Day, which is probably not a big deal.....Arrrrrrggggghhhhhhh!
WWYD?
love...Love...LOVE the idea of the New Years card! Genius!
Or...what about making sure my card is the FIRST to arrive in before Christmas 2012? LOL
Thanks, everyone.

If you get it out before Valentine's Day, consider it a success! ;) Merry Christmas, and don't sweat the small stuff.
My photo cards have been sitting on my dining room table for over a week now. I've already gotten over 40 of them out but the others, well....I can't find the addresses that I need. So they probably won't find their way to the mail box until sometime later this week. An after Christmas delivery it will be...no big deal in my book!
Why not do a Happy New Year photo card?
That's cool, I didn't send YOU a picture Christmas card either! It's all good.
:)
Ooh, I don't think it's mandatory that all cards be delivered before Christmas Day! I say, do what you wanted to do & just include Happy New Year on there, then you've covered all your bases & you're not even late! ;)
Yes - New Years cards are awesome!! I get O. or two every year.
This was me two years ago - I sent a "Wishing you a happy new year!" card. It was great. My husband suggested we put a more "honest' greeting "Since we couldn't get our stuff together for a Christmas card - happy new year!" LOL We still joke about it:)
New Year's Cards!
It's kind of nice to receive something AFTER the chaos :).
The year my daughter was born - things were SO tight at Christmas, that I did Valentine's cards :).
Funny thing is - O. of my male friends who had moved away got the card, and didn't recognize the last name (I used my daughter's on the card...which was not mine at the time but is now) and he wasn't sure who it was. So he just put the picture away and told me about it a few years later. I laughed for DAYS!!!
I know I'd rather receive a picture card after Christmas than a regular card on time.
Pull up Sam's photo center online, upload a picture, send it and they'll have them done within a day if not sooner. BTW they also have the New Year cards.
I always send my cards out after New Years. I figure "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings" covers New Years as well - right?
When I used to try to send cards before Christmas, I just wound up never sending them out at all. Now I take that quiet week between Christmas and New Years to write them up. People always comment when they receive my card/photos.
We have, on purpose due to time constraints, just sent out Happy New Year cards too, as others have said!
Use the photos and do a new years card instead.
Send a Happy New Year or Happy Holidays card if you want to do the photo ones.
New Years cards is a great idea that O. other mom had. :-) That's what I would do.
Do a Happy New Year card instead. That's what we do...
Go to the mall, take a picture with Santa, you and your husband can be in the picture too. Buy just the O. pose you like not the whole expensive package (unless you can afford)...then go to the drug store with the photo machine and crank out as many as you need...I think you can even write a greeting on the photo, so you don't even have to sign.
Blessings....
I agree - send "Happy New Year" cards. It sounds as if you're doing the cards yourself, so I imagine you have that option. If you sent O. like that to me, I'd love it.
If you like, you can always pretend you're following the old English custom of the twelve days of Christmas! January first would be day number eight.
I've had friends who sent their family photos on New Year's, on Easter, or on Thanksgiving! Who says photographs have to be only for Christmas? Start a trend! ;^)
I am another card procrastinator, and another sender of New Year's Card. The other good thing about NY card is you can send it to all your friends, and not worry about offending anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas.
Also... in case you're not aware, you can upload your photos on the Kodak Gallery website and send them to either CVS or Target for same day printing. This has saved me QUITE A FEW times... Just make sure you choose O. of their cards that enables same day printing.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
O. year my sister was tardy with her cards, so she turned them in Happy New Year's cards instead.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it is extremely important to you to send photo cards. I'm not even doing regular Christmas cards.. most people I know aren't this year :)
My cards are going to be late for some, because there was a prob. with Walmart/Snapfish getting my pics done. They are written out, labeled and stamped. I just have to get to Walmart, pick up the pics, stuff and send. I am kind of annoyed because I expected to pick these pictures up last week Tuesday. Grrr.
They will still be Xmas cards - just late Xmas cards.
Don't sweat the small things. This is just a small thing. Don't worry about it. The card isn't really about the photo on the outside but the words it speaks.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and be blessed.
I gave up trying to get my three kids together for a picture (I really wanted to) Sent in three photos to CVS and made a collage photo Christmas card, It's very beautiful. I've received many late Christmas/New Years cards and I love them just as much.
I am never organized enough to pull off the photo Christmas card, but what i found that works for me is a post christmas "thank you" card. I take a nice picture in front of the tree with the kids holding a festive "thank you poster." Then its a cute picture of the kids when they are truly happy and appreciative for the gifts they received. The pictures usually turn out great and by them arriving after christmas the are not just tossed into a pile with all the other holiday cards. Just my two cents. Good luck!!!
This year, due to my husband having gotten hurt and laid up the last quarter of the year, my schedule is totally and completely out of whack. I plan to work on my cards later this week and have them be New Year's cards. I figure my friends will still want to hear from me, so they shouldn't be bent out of shape if they get O. after Christmas. They'll still receive it during the traditional holiday season--which technically, traditionally, extends until Jan 12.
Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens can do cards within 1 hr.... You can always do O. of their collages of miscellaneous pictures. That way you don't have to have the perfect picture.... Or- another cheap and easy idea is to find a picture you like and just use a photo editor to add in some snow flakes and wording, then have 4X6 photos printed out at a 1 hr. photo studio. That's what I ended up doing... I didn't want to spend almost 20 bucks... Even if cards get thrown away year after year, I know that I'll enjoy seeing the photo cards I made year after year... (The past 3 years have revolved around my son on Santa's lap each year... it's neat to see how big he gets each year) :)
Good luck! :o)
I have done a New Year holiday letter several years. It started when we all were sick just before Christmas and cards were just too much. If you use a snowflake theme on your paper, that's winter, not Christmas. You can insert family pictures on to the letter before you print and they are fun to get.
