Mirena IUD Removal - Perris,CA

I had my Mirena IUD removed on Tuesday. They didn't warn me about any bleeding at all though I expected there could be some. Within about an hour of leaving the doctor's office I was walking through a store and felt a "whoosh" and instantly bled through everything and down my legs. Over the next day it turned to spotting and stopped. Then on Thursday, it happened again, and again on Friday. There will be no bleeding whatsoever and then a giant gush and I will bleed through everything. I have also been bleeding after sex, though there is no pain with sex at all.
I'm wondering if any of you have had a Mirena IUD removed and, if so, did you have this kind of crazy bleeding?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Oh, I forgot to mention that we are trying to get pregnant so I'm not interested in using any form of birth control. I also had it removed in part due to MAJOR nasty side effects - Depression/Anxiety/Irritability that were resistant to the Psych drugs I tried. My body tends not to respond well to any kind of hormone in my birth control plan... well then again I'm also allergic to latex. Yeah, I should really just plan to be pregnant my whole life LOL!
Update: I haven't had any bleeding for 2 days now so I'm hoping that it was just my body adjusting. Thanks for all your input!

I just had mine removed earlier this month late last month due to problems... I had spontanious(SP?) bleeding for a week then started my period then stoped then bled for another 2 days. I stopped for 3 weeks then started again 3 days of odd heavy flow then stop then a couple days later 2 more days! I haven't had any other problems so far! I would call your doc if its that bad and wear something just to me on the safe side like a panty liner and carry what ever you use with you so the minute you feel a gush get to a bathroom! I hope everything gets back to normal soon!

I've used the Mirena several times (love it), and have had it removed twice, and never experienced this type of whooshing bleeding. Just a bit of period-like spotting for a few days afterwards.

I suggest calling your doctor. Maybe something tore during removal.

Good luck.

That did not happen to me when I had mine removed. You should definitely check in with your doctor.

I did have some sporatic bleeding, but nothing quite that intense! We were also trying to get pregnant however, when I had mine taken out, so I only had to deal with it for a short time, so I don't really know how long it would have lasted.

I would give it another day or so and if it doesn't tone down, I would call the doc.

Mine wasnt so spontaneous, but it was horrible bleeding. My doctor did warn me about it though. It has been 2 months since and it has let up a little. My doc put me on a pill just to help regulate for a few months. If it keeps up, I would call your doctor. HTH

My Mirena removal was a piece of cake, which was great for me because for some reason it hurt like the devil being put in. I think you need to call your doctor immediately and get back in there to be checked out. The longer you wait the worse it could be.

I had the same exact side effects as you, which my doctor maintained consistantly had nothing to do with Mirena. Amazing though, they went away right after it was removed.

Good luck.
