I have a copper IUD and have NEVER felt it. The doc did warn me that you can cramp the first few days but it was quite mild and only the first day. Sounds like you are experiencing something other than cramping. I would go back.
Hi all, I had a Mirena IUD inserted yesterday. Every so often I feel a sharp poking inside my vagina. Is this normal? Sometimes the poke hurts enough I get nauseas. It especially happens after I use the restroom.

Call your doctor. I certainly had some discomfort after it was inserted, but a sharp pain that causes nausea is worth a call.
Your doctor should have talked to you about what to expect and what to call about. If you don't have such a list, call now and ask so you can stop worrying with each feeling.

I never had any problems with my Mirena after the inserted it. It may be that they didn't clip the 'string' short enough so that could be poking or it has shifted since it was inserted. I would definitely call the ob/doc right away they should be able to get you in.
If you feel a sharp pain you need to go back and get checked. It is possible that it wasn't placed correctly or has become dislodged.
I have had mine for almost 5 years and never had anything like you describe - but I was told that I needed to come in if I experienced any unusual pain.
Good luck.
The only thing I can think of is it may be your strings poking you.. can you feel them?? You could just be cramping from the insertion, I never had any issues with mine.. if it keeps up until tomorrow just call and ask.
