We would call them "shirt tail relations".. related thru family but not so close as married to,, If you trace it back a ways, the kids all have the same great great grandparents or something like that.
My brother in laws family has tons of cousins that my daughter plays with. We consider them all family. What exactly are they? Are they just simply our "in laws" .. or does that term only apply to my (future..lol) husbands family? What is my brother in laws family to me?
cheryl, lol that is what I do.. I was just curious:)

Not stupid at all. :) To my knowledge they would just be considered friends, not in-laws. BUT in my family we all considered each other's cousins our cousins too. :)
to the best of my knowledge since they are not blood related - they are really "not family" but who cares?!! i would call them cousins!!
LOL I'd just say they're cousins or just "my BIL's family."
Technically, nothing but bil's family. But if they are going to be a part of your life, and you want it that way, extended family is what we call them...so your cousin's cousins would be "cousins" (if you like them and play with them).
Family--cousins, even though I guess they are technically not. Cousins of cousins and inlaws children are all just cousins, like everyone else said on here. Glad we're not all that different. It's not a stupid question.
We have almost the same situation: my sister's husband has a brother with 2 kids almost the same age as my kids. They play great together. We call them the cousins-in-law. They aren't blood relatives to me but I still consider them kin. They may as well be family (as soon as my sister has a child they will have a relative in common). I think I had a friend with this situation and jokingly called them the "out-laws."
My family is full of step, half, whole, in-laws, seconds....I just call them all family too! They were always just moms, dads, sisters, brothers, cousins...and on and on and on...lol!
What they are to you are inlaws, but what they are to your children depends on how they are related to your brother.
Maybe second cousins? I think they are all cousins. I mean, if it is your sister that he is married to, you are their aunt and they are your children's cousins.
