Hello!

A couple months ago I posted a questions about some middle name suggestions for the name Caleb. I got some great responses! I have narrowed it down to 2 names and wanted your opinion: Our last name is a long "L" last name with 3 syllables.

My husbands first name is Bryan and we were thinking Caleb Bryan L.

Do you think it's ok that Cale(b) ends with a "B" and that (B) ryan starts with a "B".?? Am I analyzing it to much!?? Lol!

The other name we both really like is Luke. So it would be Caleb Luke L.

Thanks so much for your help!!!

Trying to finally make this decision!

What can I do next?

I think the "b"'s sound better next to eachother than the "L"'s would. Caleb Bryan is a great name!! Good luck with baby's arrival!

I like Caleb Luke a lot better. Don't know why though! Maybe it's the double B thing in Bryan, cause I really like the name Bryan on its own.. Plus, do you want a child with the initials CB? (I'm an analyzer too!)

Well, if it's important to incorporate your hubby's into the name, then go with Bryan. But, personally, I think Luke flows a bit better--especially with a "3 syllabler" last name!

Might I also suggest 'James': Caleb James (C.J.?)

I think a child's name should always have meaning... having his father's name is very STRONG. My sister ended up naming all 3 of her boys' middle name after her husband's first name.
One day you'll look at your precious bundle of joy and realize that was his name all the while... It took me until my last days in the hospital to name all 3 of my kids...
Congrats on your Baby Boy!!!

Personally, I think Caleb Luke flows better. I never liked names that end/start with the same letter, Cale*B* *B*ryan. But I do get the naming after his father thing.

That said, my son's name ends with a K and his middle name starts with a K, so even though I don't like that, I still DID IT! LOL

Go with what means the most to you. :)

Caleb Bryan will sound like Caleb Ryan. On the other hand, we never refer to our kids' middle names so it doesn't matter too much!!!

I like Caleb Bryan, because it is your husband's name and I like using family names whenever you can. Also, keep in mind that the only place you'll really use his whole name is on his birth certificate. You're probably not going to be calling him by his full name unless he's in trouble, LOL.

I like Caleb Bryan - it's a smooth transition from one name to the next because of the double "B".
Here are some other great names in case you decide not to go with Bryan:

I wouldn't use a B name for the middle name.
If I was using Caleb as a first name, names I'd probably pair as the middle name would be Joshua, Michael, Matthew, Lucas or William. I wouldn't use anything modern sounding or classic names with a modern spelling.
If it means a lot to use your husband's name, I would name the baby Bryan Caleb and call him Caleb. As he grows up, he will be B. Caleb L _______
Good luck in choosing!

My middle name is a one syllable 'L' name, and my last name is three syllables long. So, I like both for different reasons. I like Caleb Bryan for the double B. I like Caleb Luke because the syllbles go 2-1-3 (like mine). :)

Oh! I just said them both out loud and Caleb Bryan might be mistaken as Caleb Ryan. If you go that route, be sure to pause a beat so they know his middle name. (Or spell it/write it down.)

Not to add more confusion to you, but I prefer Lucas to Luke. Try saying "Caleb ------" in your most exasperated Mommy-voice & see what sounds best :) That's the most likely time you'll be using your child's middle name ;) Good Luck!

Caleb Bryan sounds wonderful!

Caleb Luke.. maybe it depends on how it sounds with your last name.

Typically, one syllable names are supposed to follow two syllable names, but I think Caleb Bryan sounds great because the vowel sounds are so different, plus their is a special meaning behind it.

I like you naming him after your hubby!!! We did that with my 1st son and my second son's middle name was after his oldest brother. A nice way to honor him :)

What about Caleb Lee? I had a real problem when we named our son Arthur. It was hard to find a middle name that went well with that too and i decided on Lee then too. I think its a very masculine name and it goes well with most any other names.

I like Bryan, because I am a big fan of using family or meaningful names as the middle name. My eldest son shares his middle name with his father, and it is also his Great Grandmothers maiden name. My youngests sons middle name is shared by all his Great Grandpas on my side, and my step father.

J.,

I am of the firm believe that you need to name your child a name with good meaning because that is what he/she will be called for the rest of his life.
My middle son is named Marcus Caleb, I happen to like the name Caleb :)
I don't think the 'b' at the end of Caleb and the beggining of Bryan is a big deal, but I strongly believe that when you see your son, you will know the right name to give him :) He will look like a Caleb Bryan or a Caleb Luke, some how you will know :)
So, don't stress about it and just wait 'till he comes out :)
Blessings
