Did anybody experience menstrual pains before baby? Did it go away completely after you had your baby? I heard from my mom that it's not normal to have pains during periods after you deliver a baby. It should change. Your thoughts??

What can I do next?

You know in childbirth class they say that contractions feel like menstrual cramps? Well I had NEVER had such a thing and so had no idea what they would feel like.
After I had my first kid I had cramps with EVERY single period. Sucked the big one let M. tell you!

Your mom is misinformed - but if you feel your issues are extreme, consult your DR.

I still have it - its is mild but not gone. My SIL has become more severe. Our bodies are different as long as they are tolerable you shall be okey. If you are concerned talk to doctor.

Well I do know this, after you have a baby you bleed more because the surface area of your uterus has increased. This is permanent. It could be that because of the increased blood, your muscles are contracting more in order to expell it. I don't know that you need to see your doc for an actual appointment, but if you are worried you should call and leave a message on the nurse's line. I'm sure one of the nurses can talk to you about this over the phone and add some insight. If they seem concerned, they'll advise you to come in.

Sorry, But I still got them after I gave birth to our daughter..

But if you are worried, mention it to your doctor.. Keep a record so you can give specifics. the date period started, days and length of cramps.. month to month..

Our periods, change every 7 years. This also includes when we have babies. There is always a hormonal imbalance as everything is trying to get back to normal. Talk to your Dr if you are in that much pain. Also take into consideration your pain tolerance level. If you can't handle pain well you will think the cramping before, during and after your period are insane.
Tell your Dr. everything, he may run tests to get to the bottom of it. Good luck.

It certainly would not hurt to call your doctors office and talk to his nurse, but I will tell you mine did not improve after childbirth. I developed PMS and sometimes cramped horribly. It progressively got worse as I aged with extremely heavy periods, and around age 40 I finally got a hysterectomy. That cured it.

I am not suggesting this for you! I assume you are younger and its not that bad, but I do think some GLA (a supplement that balances hormones) would be worth a try. I did not know about it back then, but now I am a Shaklee Distributor and so i take Shaklee. I trust it. If you know a Shaklee Distributor you might try it and see if it at least helps some. Again..... it certainly would not hurt to talk to your doctor. I don't think there is anything seriously wrong, but she may have some advice that would help.

Good Luck!

I still get them. Not as bad as in high school, though. Although, birth control pills make them much more tolerable.

I also now feel myself ovulate. That is not fun either...

Mine have gotten much heavier, irregular, and more painful since the birth of my 3rd baby. When I was having an ultrasound done a few weeks ago for my 4th pregnancy, my doctor noticed that I have a fibroid, which probably explains my changes to my cycle.
