Hello everyone, My issue is that I have been dealing with irregular menstral cycles. After the birth of my first child in Sept of 2005 , I was getting my period every 2 weeks for about 4 days till Feb. I went to the doctors, and they found a cyst about 5 cm on my ovaries. I got a high dose shot of progestrone in my hiney. It broke the cyst, and my period was back to normal till June. I then didnt recieve it at all. On sept 1st, I again went to the doctors, and they did all kinds of tests. They found nothing. Thyriod, ovaries ,levels all good. So they decided to put my on pervia. I got my period just a few days later, and it was light. Now I have it again, which is great, but it is very bad. I have cramps "which I havent had in along time", and I am weak. My question is, that I want to have another baby, but what are my chances of conception, and having a good pregnancy? I am scared that I wont be able to get pregnant again, and if I do, I will have a rough one. If I knew that everyone of my pregnancies were going to be like my first one, I would be pregnant all the time. If anyone has experienced the issues that I am dealing with now, please let me know how you have dealt with it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have been doing Fertility Awareness. It is amazing. I am understanding how to take care of my new mommy body. I am also Practicing Family Planning as a form of Birth control.

Hi!

My periods have ALWAYS been irregular. I have 5 children, but have had 3 births. The two oldest are my ex-husband's children. My husband and i have custody of them.

I am currently trying to get pregnant again. I am taking Provera and Clomid to try (I'm almost 36). You can conceive without regular periods. You just have to be diligent and patient. Sometimes, it's just the way it is. Your body is always changing. Just keep working with your doctor, and don't worry so much.

I am sorry you are going through so much pain and trouble. If you can, watch Oprah today. I believe they are going to talk about problems women have with their menstrual cycle. Maybe some of your problems will be answered. Good Luck!

I have had similar issues but now have 3 children and I will most likely have a hysterectomy shortly. To regulate your period you should be on birth control. When I was ready to get pregnant I had to go on fertility pills and it took a while but I eventually got pregnant. Good Luck I know it is an awful thing to deal with.

I C., I'm new here and this happens to be the first thing I've read. But I'd really like to recommend that you look into what's called Fertility Awareness. Some people use it as a form of birth control, but it is really just a GREAT way to help you understand your own body and what it's doing to you. :) It might help you figure out if you need to talk to a doctor at all. If you'd like to know more about it, go ahead and contact me. I know of some books I could recommend also.

Hope things are getting better!!

I'd find out what exactly the thyroid levels were. A lot of times they'll say it's "good" when it's really not. http://www.thyroid-info.com is a good site about thyroid issues.

Another possibility is PCOS. Did they check your blood sugar and your insulin levels? Sometimes those will be "off" if you have this, but even if they're not, you can still have it. Metformin helps a lot of people, especially trying to conceive, but docs don't always want to prescribe it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCOS has some basic info.

I have BOTH of these conditions, btw. They have a habit of attacking together! Arg!

Hi, C.. Have they already checked you for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? I have this and it does cause irregular periods plus cysts on the ovaries. If they haven't checked you for this it may be worth it since it can also cause hormonal fluctuations.

Best of luck to you and God bless!!
