I think you should write down the specifics including how heavy the flow is and how bad the cramps are on a scale of 1-10 so you can compare. Give the doctor's office a call - you may not need to be seen and the call costs you nothing. It's a great halfway step between chalking it up to nothing vs. going in to be seen. If the doctor says to wait a week and just to call if it's really bad, fine. But at least go on record. Your doctor knows your history - there could be all kinds of reasons why this is happening, and most of them are non-urgent. And don't worry about TMI - the clotting question is actually important information.
