I NEVER buy lotto tics but I think I'm going to stop and buy $20 worth today - just on the off chance I could win ANYTHING.

What about you?

What can I do next?

It cracks me up that people wait until the pot is so high to buy a ticket. As if $1 MIL isn't enough. I am guilty, too. :)

Good luck! Hope one of you wins a whole "lotto" money.
(Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.)

I subscribe to it - so I always have a number in every drawing.
The news is all about how long the lines are to buy tickets now.
It's fun to daydream but don't spend any money you can't afford to lose.
This sort of lottery is what people will blow a mortgage payment on hoping they will strike it big but you have a better chance of being struck by lightning 17 times than you have of winning a lottery.

No.

My parents bought $10 or so of lottery tickets every week and were absolutely thrilled to have won $5 once or twice per year. Once they won $100 and were so happy.

The trouble is $10 per week invested in something that pays 8% per year would be over $100,000 in 20 years. But people want to get rich quick.

If I bought $1000 in mega lottery tickets I would have as much chance of winning as I would having Obama landing Marine One in my back yard and coming up to my back door, handing me his resignation and giving me an appology for being such a lousy President.

Good luck to you and yours.

You bet. You can't win if you DON'T play. Will I win? Probably not but sure is fun to imagine all the things I could do.

8 kids dad made me laugh, even though I'm going to go buy one (or 5) this evening. I hear Sue W's statistics, but the fact is that SOMEONE (or several) will win before 70012, actually. And that person hasn't been playing five thousand years, so why not take a chance?
I bought ONE ticket in fall of 2001, when it was at $300 million and I really didn't like my job. (ha!) I was so happy, because I imagined so hard what I'd do with $300 million that I had my whole life, and the lives of my husband (then on-again off-again boyfriend), mom, brother, and closest friends planned out. I won $10 and was so upset I threw away the ticket. I thought "Dude---I don't think I have the personality to be able to play this thing". But now it's at such a ridiculously high number, I think it'd be silly not to. You see people win lotteries and think "sheesh! Why don't I ever win that?" and it's because you have to pay to play.
I'm not a habitual player (I'm actually gonna have to ask the store clerk how to do it), and I don't expect anything, but heck---I spend $5 here and there on a mocha, a burger, a magazine, other meaningless drivel. Why not save the calories and take a chance? But I promise not to call an architect, university, or travel agent just yet. ;) ;)

Every once in a while my husband will put in $5 with a group of people at work. Or he'll buy 2 or 3 tickets if he goes into the store for a soda or coffee or something.... but he called me yesterday and said: "hey, you should buy a couple of tickets for the big drawing, if you want"... so I did. I (as in ME myself) NEVER buy them. Not for years anyway. When I was young and single I would buy one or two every other month or so... just for fun, for the "what if" factor.

But I found that all 4 of the numbers we got yesterday have multiple numbers that are in several of them 4 number combinations. I'm not sure if that could be good or bad, lol, so I told my husband I was going to buy one more ticket today. The first four were for the four of us in the family (me, him, 2 kids), the 5th one, on a separate ticket will be "for" the dog. LOL
She's a pretty lucky dog, soooo..... ;)

Hellllllzzzz yes I'm playing! I only buy the MM tickets (or any others for that matter) when the jackpots get ridiculously huge. Then I'll plunk down 5 bucks on special date combinations and see what happens. Hey -someone will win it at some point, so why not me? I may even spend $10 on this one! By the time all of us rare players and people who never play but are this time buy our tickets, the jackpot will probably be 800 million!

I always play whenever it gets over $200 million, so I'm spending around $20 tonight on tickets. I think there are lots of people like you who never play but will buy tickets tonight. Good luck to all of us!!

Our office has chipped in $10 each. There are 5 of us, so, I have 50 opportunities to be a Mega Millionaire.

I don't ever play either and I am now. It makes me wonder. It's as if 4 million isn't enough to waste my time on, 10 mil, 20, mil, nah, but when it gets to 140 Million - ok, NOW it's worth my $1. lol not very logical but I guess we all do it.

I bought $5 in tickets today... may or may not will, but it is nice to dream of what I could do with it. First thing I would do it replace my van - since it need a new bottom engin seal, power windows don't work, doesn't have power steering anymore, over heats in the summer & doesn't heat up in the winter... think it is time :)

According to the California Lottery, the chance of winning Mega Millions is 1 in about 176 million. "Facing these odds, if you bought 50 tickets each week, you’d win -- sometime before the year 70012.

You are 19 times as likely to be struck by lightning twice, 33 times as likely to be killed in the next year by bees and 40 times as likely to be dealt five blackjacks in a row as you are to win Mega Millions."
